Within network environment, missing measurements are taken into account, since the communication channel is supposed to be imperfect. A Pseudo-Supervised Approach to Improve a Recommender Based on Collaborative Filtering

This PhD Thesis develops an optimal recommender. First of all, users accessing to a Web site are clustered. If a user belongs to a cluster, the system offers services which are usually accessed by users from the same cluster in a collaborative filtering scheme. A novel approach based on a users simulator and a dynamic recommendation system is proposed. The simulator is used to create the situations that one can find in a Web site. Introduction of dynamics in the recommender allows to change the clusters and in turn, the decisions which are taken. Time-Frequency Filtering for Seismic Waves Clustering

This paper introduces a new technique for clustering seismic events based on processing, in time-frequency domain, the waveforms recorded by seismographs. The detection of clusters of waveforms is performed by a k-means like algorithm which analyzes, at each iteration, the time-frequency content of the signals in order to optimally remove the non discriminant components which should compromise the grouping of waveforms. This step is followed by the allocation and by the computation of the cluster centroids on the basis of the filtered signals. The effectiveness of the method is shown on a real dataset of seismic waveforms.
