Quantification of Myocardial Blood Flow Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging with Different accelerated Pulse Sequences

2009

The aim of this study was to compare SRTurboFLASH, SR-TrueFISP, and SR-segEPI pulse sequences using a twofold TSENSE-acceleration with regard to their use in quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF). Six healthy volunteers were examined at 1.5T by first pass myocardial perfusion MRI at rest using all three TSENSE-accelerated pulse sequences. For absolute quantifi-cation of MBF XSIM software with the MMID4 model has been used. MBF analyses revealed significant MBF differences between SRTurboFLASH and SR-segEPI compared to SR-TrueFISP (p<0.005 and p<0.001, respectively). Differences between SRTurboFLASH and SR-segEPI were not statistically significant. The median MBF values for SR-TurboF…

Evidence for Early Closure Attachment on First Pass Reading Times in French

1997

An eye-tracking experiment was conducted in French with sentences of the form “N V N1of-N2 who …” Example: “A journalist approached the barrister (male) of the singer (female) who seemed more confident (masculine or feminine gender) than (s)he ought to be.” The results are consistent with those of Cuetos and Mitchell (1988). French readers, like Spanish readers, prefer early closure (and are garden-pathed when the sentence turns out to be a late-closure attachment). This effect was exhibited by first-pass reading times that are usually assumed to reflect initial syntactic commitments. These results are discussed in relation to Frazier and Clifton's recent proposals concerning attachment me…

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy after ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome with wild-type ABCB4 gene: a peculiar case and literature review

2023

Background: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) in the first trimester occurring after ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a rare condition and few cases are reported in the literature. Hyperestrogenism may explain this problem in genetically predisposed women. The objective of this article is to report one of these rare cases and offer an overview of the other published cases. Case presentation: We report a case of severe OHSS followed by ICP in the first trimester. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit and was treated according to the guidelines for the management of OHSS. Moreover, the patient also received ursodeoxycholic acid for ICP, which brought to an i…

Decidability Frontier for Fragments of First-Order Logic with Transitivity

2018

Several decidable fragments of first-order logic have been identified in the past as a generalisation of the standard translation of modal logic. These include: the fluted fragment, the two-variable frag- ment, the guarded fragment and the unary negation fragment; some of them have been recently generalised or combined to yield even more expressive decidable logics (guarded negation fragment or uniform one- dimensional fragment). None of the fragments allows one to express tran- sitivity of a binary relation or related properties like being an equivalence, a linear or a partial order, that naturally appear in specifications or in verification. The question therefore arises what is the impac…

On the first return integrals

2007

Some pathological properties of the first-return integrals are explored. In particular it is proved that there exist Riemann improper integrable functions which are first-return recoverable almost everywhere, but not first-return integrable, with respect to each trajectory. It is also proved that the usual convergence theorems fail to be true for the first-return integrals.
