A new vicious cycle involving glutamate excitotoxicity, oxidative stress and mitochondrial dynamics

Glutamate excitotoxicity leads to fragmented mitochondria in neurodegenerative diseases, mediated by nitric oxide and S-nitrosylation of dynamin-related protein 1, a mitochondrial outer membrane fission protein. Optic atrophy gene 1 (OPA1) is an inner membrane protein important for mitochondrial fusion. Autosomal dominant optic atrophy (ADOA), caused by mutations in OPA1, is a neurodegenerative disease affecting mainly retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Here, we showed that OPA1 deficiency in an ADOA model influences N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor expression, which is involved in glutamate excitotoxicity and oxidative stress. Contribution of recently measured nuclear data to reactor antineutrino energy spectra predictions

This paper attempts to summarize the actual problematic of reactor antineutrino energy spectra in the frame of fundamental and applied neutrino physics. Nuclear physics is an important ingredient of reactor antineutrino experiments. These experiments are motivated by neutrino oscillations, i.e. the measure of the θ 13 mixing angle. In 2011, after a new computation of the reactor antineutrino energy spectra, based on the conversion of integral data of the beta spectra from 235 U, and 239;241 Pu, a deficit of reactor antineutrinos measured by short baseline experiments was pointed out. Total Absorption Spectroscopy Study ofRb92Decay: A Major Contributor to Reactor Antineutrino Spectrum Shape

The antineutrino spectra measured in recent experiments at reactors are inconsistent with calculations based on the conversion of integral beta spectra recorded at the ILL reactor. (92)Rb makes the dominant contribution to the reactor antineutrino spectrum in the 5-8 MeV range but its decay properties are in question. We have studied (92)Rb decay with total absorption spectroscopy. Previously unobserved beta feeding was seen in the 4.5-5.5 region and the GS to GS feeding was found to be 87.5(25)%. The impact on the reactor antineutrino spectra calculated with the summation method is shown and discussed.

Cet article examine un dispositif d’évaluation des enseignements par les étudiants (EEE) en analysant les choix des équipes pédagogiques concernant les questionnaires qu’elles conçoivent. Cette étude est menée afin d’étudier la place possible de l’EEE dans le cadre de l’évaluation-conseil. En effet, pour que l’EEE soit utile aux enseignants, il convient que les questions posées aux étudiants permettent aux enseignants comme aux professionnels de l’accompagnement de s’inscrire dans une logique d’évaluation-conseil. First-forbidden transitions in reactor antineutrino spectra

© 2019 American Physical Society. We study the dominant forbidden transitions in the antineutrino spectra of the fission actinides from 4 MeV onward using the nuclear shell model. Through explicit calculation of the shape factor, we show the expected changes in cumulative electron and antineutrino spectra. Relative to the allowed approximation this results in a minor decrease of electron spectra above 4 MeV, whereas an increase of several percent is observed in antineutrino spectra. We show that forbidden transitions dominate the spectral flux for most of the experimentally accessible range.
