Tectonic denudation of a Late Cretaceous-Tertiary collisional belt: Regionally symmetric cooling patterns and their relation to extensional faults in…

2003

Thermochronological data reveal that the Late Cretaceous–Tertiary nappe pile of the Anatolide belt of western Turkey displays a two-stage cooling history. Three crustal segments differing in structure and cooling history have been identified. The Central Menderes metamorphic core complex represents an ‘inner’ axial segment of the Anatolide belt and exposes the lowest structural levels of the nappe pile, whereas the two ‘outer’ submassifs, the Gördes submassif to the north and the Çine submassif to the south, represent higher levels of the nappe pile. A regionally significant phase of cooling in the Late Oligocene and Early Miocene affected the outer two submassifs and the upper structural l…

The community health agent and the consolidation of the Unified Health System: contemporary reflections

2010

Analysis of a Station Black-Out transient in SMR by using the TRACE and RELAP5 code

2014

The present paper deals with the investigation of the evolution and consequences of a Station Black-Out (SBO) initiating event transient in the SPES3 facility [1]. This facility is an integral simulator of a small modular reactor being built at the SIET laboratories, in the framework of the R&D program on nuclear fission funded by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and led by ENEA. The SBO transient will be simulated by using the RELAP5 and TRACE nodalizations of the SPES3 facility. Moreover, the analysis will contribute to study the differences on the code predictions considering the different modelling approach with one and/or three-dimensional components and to compare the capa…

PD-1-induced T cell exhaustion is controlled by a Drp1-dependent mechanism

2020

AbstractPD-1 signalling downregulates the T cell response, promoting an exhausted state in tumor-infiltrating T cells, through mostly unveiled molecular mechanisms. Drp1-dependent mitochondrial fission plays a crucial role to sustain T cell motility, proliferation, survival and glycolytic engagement and, interestingly, such processes are exactly those inhibited by PD-1 in tumor-infiltrating T cells. Here we show that the signature of PD-1pos CD8+ T cells infiltrating MC38-derived murine tumor mass is having downregulated Drp1 activity and more fused mitochondria, compared to PD-1neg counterparts. Also, PD-1pos lymphocytic elements infiltrating human colon cancer rarely express active Drp1. …

The Low-Lying Excited States of 2,2′-Bithiophene: A Theoretical Analysis

2004

The low-energy region of the singlet →singlet, singlet →triplet, and triplet→triplet electronic spectra of 2,2'-bithiophene are studied using multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) and extended atomic natural orbitals (ANO) basis sets. The computed vertical, adiabatic, and emission transition energies are in agreement with the available experimental data. The two lowest singlet excited states, 1 1 B u and 2'B u , are computed to be degenerate, a novel feature of the system to be borne in mind during the rationalization of its photophysics. As regards the observed high triplet quantum yield of the molecule, it is concluded that the triplet states 2 3 A g and 2 3 B u ,…

A theoretical study on the thermal ring opening rearrangement of 1H-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexa-3,5-dien-2-one: a case of two state reactivity

2009

The molecular mechanism of the thermal rearrangement of singlet 1H-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexa-3,5-dien-2-one to give triplet 4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidene has been investigated using density functional theory (B3LYP and M05-2X functionals) as well as ab initio CASSCF and CASPT2 multiconfigurational methods. The reactant has a singlet ground state while the product can be found in three low lying electronic states P((3)B(1)), P((1)B(1)), and P((1)A'). Therefore, the molecular mechanism of this ring opening rearrangement may involve up to three different potential energy surfaces of two spin multiplicities: two singlet (closed shell, CS, and open shell, OS) and one triplet. The stationary points on …

Rapid continous radiochemical separations by thermochromatography in connection with a gas-jet recoil-transport system

1980

Abstract A combination of a gas-jet recoil-transport system with a thermochromatographic system has been studied as a technique for rapid, continuous radiochemical separations. Fission products were used as a model for complex mixtures of elements. A nitrogen gas-jet containing potassium chloride clusters was applied to transport nuclides produced in a reactor from the target area to the thermochromatographic column. Conversion of the reaction products carried by the gas-jet volatile species was achieved by stopping the clusters in a quartz-wool plug located in the column and kept at high temperatures and feeding a reactive gas into the column. Several reactive gases producing volatile chlo…

Chemical reactions in a gas-jet recoil-transport system: Continuous separation procedure for selenium and tellurium from fission products

1978

Abstract Chemical selectivity in a gas-jet recoil-transport system can be achieved by chemical reactions with the carrier gas. This is demonstrated for an ethylene-nitrogen jet in which volatile species of selenium and tellurium are formed by passing the gas through a reaction zone heated to 860°C. Rapid continuous separation procedures for selenium and tellurium from fission products based on this effect are described and some decay data of the neutron-rich nuclides 85–88Se and 135–137Te obtained with these methods are given.

A phosphorylation cycle shapes gradients of the DYRK family kinase Pom1 at the plasma membrane.

2011

http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/; International audience; Concentration gradients regulate many cell biological and developmental processes. In rod-shaped fission yeast cells, polar cortical gradients of the DYRK family kinase Pom1 couple cell length with mitotic commitment by inhibiting a mitotic inducer positioned at midcell. However, how Pom1 gradients are established is unknown. Here, we show that Tea4, which is normally deposited at cell tips by microtubules, is both necessary and, upon ectopic cortical localization, sufficient to recruit Pom1 to the cell cortex. Pom1 then moves laterally at the plasma membrane, which it binds through a basic region exhibiting direct lipid interaction. …

Clinical and Biochemical Features in a Patient With Mitochondrial Fission Factor Gene Alteration

2018

Mitochondrial Fission Factor (MFF) is part of a protein complex that promotes mitochondria and peroxisome fission. Hitherto, only 5 patients have been reported harboring mutations in MFF, all of them with the clinical features of a very early onset Leigh-like encephalopathy. We report on an 11-year-old boy with epileptic encephalopathy. He presented with neurological regression, epileptic myoclonic seizures, severe intellectual disability, microcephaly, tetraparesis, optic atrophy, and ophthalmoplegia. Brain MRI pattern was compatible with Leigh syndrome. NGS-based analysis of a gene panel for mitochondrial disorders revealed a homozygous c.892C>T (p. Arg298*) in the MFF gene. Fluorescen…
