A new record of Euphorbia serrata (Euphorbiaceae) from Sicily. - Euphorbia serrata L. is reported from a new locality in Sicily near Mazara del Vallo (Trapani). Data on the biological cycle and the phytocoenosis in the new Sicilian locality are also reported.

Abstract Background The coincidence of long distance dispersal (LDD) and biome shift is assumed to be the result of a multifaceted interplay between geographical distance and ecological suitability of source and sink areas. Here, we test the influence of these factors on the dispersal history of the flowering plant genus Erica (Ericaceae) across the Afrotemperate. We quantify similarity of Erica climate niches per biogeographic area using direct observations of species, and test various colonisation scenarios while estimating ancestral areas for the Erica clade using parametric biogeographic model testing. Lo scopo di questo lavoro è quello di presentare le dinamiche evolutive del comparto floristico del territorio di Palma di Montechiaro. Sono state analizzate tre diverse epoche, dalla prima metà dell’800 a oggi. Lo studio è partito dall’analisi dei dati presenti in un vecchio manoscritto risalente alla prima metà dell’ottocento. Le notizie ottenute dal corposo elenco di specie vegetali, riportato in questo manoscritto, sono state utilizzate per effettuare una analisi comparativa con i risultati delle ricerche condotte sullo stesso territorio nel 1966 dal Prof. M. In this contribution we present activities and selected results obtained in recent studies and campaigns conducted in the context of the FLuorescence EXplorer (FLEX) mission. FLEX is a candidate mission for the ESA 8th Earth Explorer and large efforts are currently dedicated to the development of an implementation scheme for an accurate mapping of fluorescence from the selected spaceborne sensor and mission configuration.
