Osservazioni preliminari sul germoplasma spontaneo di mirto (Myrtus communis L.) siciliano

Tra le specie presenti allo stato spontaneo della flora mediterranea, il mirto occupa una posizione di rilievo per le sue molteplici applicazioni nei settori alimentare, farmaceutico, cosmetico e vivaistico. Il Dipartimento A.A.T. dell'Università degli Studi di Palermo, in collaborazione con il Consorzio Co.Ri.S.S.I.A. di Palermo, ha avviato un programma di raccolta e valutazione di germoplasma spontaneo di mirto. Nel 2006, sono state effettuate osservazioni preliminari su n. 9 biotipi di mirto collezionari in campo catalogo. Nel presente lavoro si riportano i primi risultati sulle caratteristiche feno-morfologiche e biometriche dei biotipi esaminati.

Curricula, influenced by the digitalization, set requirements for early childhood education (ECE) settings to implement digital practices. However, ECE teachers are struggling to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) and child-centered pedagogy, such as digital portfolios, successfully into practice. Previous research efforts have focused on analyzing the barriers of digital technology implementation. This study, in turn, takes a broader view and addresses the complex task of implementing digital practices into education by analyzing the factors that foster and challenge the implementation process. Behavioural adaptations of argulid parasites (Crustacea: Branchiura) to major challenges in their life cycle

Fish lice (Argulus spp.) are obligate ectoparasites, which contrary to most aquatic parasites, retain the ability to swim freely throughout the whole of their life. In fish farms, they can quickly increase in numbers and without effective control cause argulosis, which results in the reduced growth and survival of their fish hosts. The morphology of Argulus spp, including their sensory organs, is suitable for both parasitism and free-swimming. By spending a considerable amount of time away from their host, these parasites risk being excessively dispersed, which could endanger mating success. Minerva Oy oli 1800- ja 1900-luvun vaihteessa Helsingissä toiminut tieteellinen antikvaarinen kirjakauppa. Tarkastelen Minerva-osakeyhtiön historiaa 1890-luvulta 1910-luvulle sen piirissä toimineiden henkilöiden kautta hyödyntämällä kollektiivibiografista menetelmää. Holocene sea level change in Malta

A multidisciplinary approach has been applied to study sea level changes along the coast of Malta using data collected from underwater archaeological remains. The elevation of archaeological markers have been compared with predicted sea level curves providing new bodies of evidence that outline the vertical tectonic behaviour of this region, allowing estimation of the relative sea level changes that occurred in this area of the Mediterranean since the Bronze Age. During the Roman Age, sea level was at −1.36 ± 0.1 m, while in the Midde Age it was at −0.56 ± 0.2 m, in agreement with previous estimations for the Mediterranean region.
