In central Tunisia, the thickness of the Bahloul Formation varies generally between 20 to 40 m such as for example, respectively, at wadi Smara near Kalaat Senan and at wadi Bahloul near Maktar. The thickness is also of several tens metres at Koudiat el Azreg near Jerissa and at Tajerouine. In these sites where the thickness of the Bahloul Formation is dilated, in addition to five geochemical events (d13C), nine bio-events were defined near the Cenomanian-Turonian transition, successively in ascending order: 1. Abstract A new species of Phytocoris (Heteroptera: Miridae: Mirinae: Mirini), P. (Exophytocoris) raunolinnavuorii sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Lebanon. The new species, easily distinguished from all the other species of the subgenus by its coloration and male genitalia, belongs to the Phytocoris pinihalepensis-group. The new species lives on the conifers Abies cilicica (Antoine & Kotschy) Carriere (Pinaceae) and Juniperus excelsa M. Bieb. (Cupressaceae).

Aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) can harbor two types of bacterial symbionts. In addition to the obligate endosymbiont Buchnera aphidicola Munson, Baumann and Kinsey 1991 (Enterobacteriales: Enterobacteriaceae), several facultative symbiotic bacteria, called secondary (S) symbionts, have been identified among many important pest aphid species. International audience; Yeast cells are efficient microcapsules for the encapsulation of flavoring compounds. However, as they are preformed capsules, they have to be loaded with the active. Encapsulation efficiency is to a certain level correlated with LogP. In this study, the effect of structural factors on the encapsulation of amphiphilic flavors was investigated. Homological series of carboxylic acids, ethyl esters, lactones, alcohols and ketones were encapsulated into the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica. First outbreak of Pepper vein yellows virus infecting sweet pepper in Italy

Sweet pepper (Capsicum annum) is an economically important crop worldwide, including Sicily where about 4,000 hectares are grown each year. In October 2015, severe symptoms not previously reported by growers in the horticultural area of the province of Trapani (Sicily, Italy) were observed on sweet pepper plants in eight different greenhouses. Symptoms included upward leaf curling, internodal shortening and interveinal yellowing. Symptoms were more evident in the upper part of the plants. These symptoms were reminiscent of those caused by poleroviruses. In the greenhouse, symptoms were evident in about 35% of the plants. Three samples per greenhouse (24 in total) were collected for analysis.

We isolated and characterized 19 polymorphic microsatellite loci in the congeneric parasitoid wasps Megastigmus stigmatizans and Megastigmus dorsalis associated with cynipid oak galls. Loci isolated from species-specific libraries showed extensive cross-amplification, resulting in a total of 15 polymorphic loci for M. stigmatizans and 13 for M. dorsalis.
Prospects for the microbial production of food flavours

The microbial production of natural flavours has been extensively studied during the past decade, and some processes are currently being exploited commercially. However, in the case of flavour compounds such as lactones and some aromatic compounds, the lack of basic information on their metabolism, as well as their high toxicity, are two main barriers to industrial production. The development of novel and cheap production processes, such as solid-state fermentation, may help overcome some of the current limitations of microbial flavour production, as well as widening the spectrum of biotechnologically accessible compounds.
Microencapsulation of healthier oils to enhance the physicochemical and nutritional properties of deer pâté

The influence of pork backfat substitution by microencapsulated healthier oils on physicochemical and nutritional properties of deer pate was assessed. Four different treatments were elaborated: control with 100% of pork backfat and the other ones with 50% of pork backfat was replaced by microencapsulated oils (tigernut, chia and linseed oils). These fat replacements were accompanied by a significant (P lt 0.001) decrease in fat and cholesterol contents. The inclusion of vegetable oils resulted in a significant (P lt 0.001) modification of colour parameters, being tigernut batches which presented the highest redness and yellowness values.
