Standards for the diagnosis and management of complex regional pain syndrome: Results of a European Pain Federation task force.
2019
Background: Complex regional pain syndrome is a painful and disabling post-traumatic primary pain disorder. Acute and chronic complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) are major clinical challenges. In Europe, progress is hampered by significant heterogeneity in clinical practice. We sought to establish standards for the diagnosis and management of CRPS. Methods: The European Pain Federation established a pan-European task force of experts in CRPS who followed a four-stage consensus challenge process to produce mandatory quality standards worded as grammatically imperative (must-do) statements. Results: We developed 17 standards in 8 areas of care. There are 2 standards in diagnosis, 1 in multi…
Conduction properties of thin films from a water soluble carbon nanotube/hemicellulose complex.
2018
We have examined the conductive properties of carbon nanotube based thin films, which were prepared via dispersion in water by non-covalent functionalization of the nanotubes with xylan, a type of hemicellulose. Measurements of low temperature conductivity, Kelvin probe force microscopy, and high frequency (THz) conductivity elucidated the intra-tube and inter-tube charge transport processes in this material. The measurements show excellent conductive properties of the as prepared thin films, with bulk conductivity up to 2000 S cm−1. The transport results demonstrate that the hemicellulose does not seriously interfere with the inter-tube conductance. peerReviewed

Talent Competitiveness and Competitiveness through Talent
2014
Abstract The current economic environment makes us acknowledge that the human factor is the most critical resource for all national economies which aspire to improve their competitiveness and innovativeness in a sustainable way. Talent is the engine of that and a growing number of countries have recognized the importance of talent competitiveness. This article aims to cast a light on this matter and to present the findings of the Global Talent Competitiveness Report form 2013 which shows us why “the war for talent” is a global one. Also, the article provides some guidelines for a deeper understanding of talent: how we can attract and retain the workforce of the future.
Managing the Activities Against Trafficking in Human Beings
2012
Organized crime has a long history and has permanently adapted to the weaknesses of the legal system, procedures and operational capabilities of the national Law Enforcement Agencies. Economic discomfort appears to be the main reason for illegal migration movement throughout the world. Due to unemployment, many human beings become victims of trafficking- prostitution and slavery. Nevertheless, many of the willing migrants undertake the hazardous travel to their destination country with criminal syndicates services specialized in people smuggling. Psychological impact for the victims of human trafficking for prostitution is huge. For trafficked human beings there is a big trauma and finding …
Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of (2E)-3-(3-bromo-4-fluorophenyl)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one
2018
The title compound is constructed from two aromatic rings (3-bromo-4-fluorophenyl and 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl), which are linked by a C=C—C(=O)—C enone bridge and form a dihedral angle of 17.91 (17)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds enclosing rings of (14) graph-set motif to form layers parallel to (10).

Implications of ageing for work: Perspectives for research The article, which focuses on age management and its various definitions and interpretations, was prompted by the need to examine the significance of age management within an organisational framework. The research material combines conceptual research and relevant literature. The National Programme on Ageing Workers 1998–2002 serves as the background for the study. In addition to providing essential data, the Programme was the first to introduce the concept of age management. Since its introduction, age management has been given a wide variety of meanings. Therefore it proved necessary to take a closer look at the relationship betwe…
Molecular mechanics models for the image charge, a comment on “including image charge effects in the molecular dynamics simulations of molecules on m…
2017
We re-investigate the image charge model of Iori and Corni (Iori and Corni, J. Comput. Chem. 2008, 29, 1656). We find that a simple symmetrization of their model allows to obtain quantitatively correct results for the electrostatic interaction of a water molecule with a metallic surface. This symmetrization reduces the magnitude of the electrostatic interaction to less than 10% of the total interaction energy. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
Kinematics and Control of a Housekeeping Robot Assistant
2005
In this paper, the compliant controller of a new service mobile robot designed for cleaning tasks and its kinematic modelling is addressed. Robot systems usage in home environment has been exponential increased in the last years thus placing a central importance on making interaction between people and machine as natural as possible. The main focus of this paper is twofold. First, the forward kinematics of the robot will be presented in order to introduce the closed form solution of the inverse kinematics problem. Second, the closed form solution will be used in the the design of a new kind of hybrid force/position control algorithm. The most important improvements of this control law are t…
