The role of electromagnetic form factors in meson exchange currents

1988

The question of electromagnetic form factors, i.e. F1V versus GEV, to be used in isovector meson exchange currents in nonrelativistic calculations is critically reviewed. None of the various arguments given earlier in favour of F1V have been found valid. Furthermore, model dependence of theoretical calculations on deuteron threshold disintegration due to e.m. form factor fits and potential models is found to be substantial. In view of these results, relativistic effects have to be included for a clear understanding of this process in the high momentum transfer region.

Resonance chiral Lagrangian currents and tau decay Monte Carlo

2012

Measurements of tau lepton, because of its long lifetime, large mass and parity sensitive couplings lead to broad physics interest. From the perspective of high-energy experiments such as at LHC, knowledge of tau lepton properties offers an important ingredient of new physics signatures. From the perspective of lower energies, tau lepton decays constitute an excellent laboratory for hadronic interactions. At present, hundreds of millions of tau decays have been amassed by both Belle and BaBar experiments. It is of utmost importance to represent such data in a form as useful for general applications as possible. In the present paper we describe the set of form factors for hadronic tau decays …

Observation of the Dalitz decayη′→γe+e−

2015

We report the first observation of the Dalitz decay eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-), based on a data sample of 1.31 billion J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector. The eta' mesons are produced via the J/psi -> gamma eta' decay process. The ratio (eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-))/Gamma (eta' -> gamma gamma) is measured to be (2.13 +/- 0.09(stat) +/- 0.07(sys)) x 10(-2). This corresponds to a branching fraction B(eta' -> gamma e(+)e(-)) = (4.69 +/- 0.20(stat) +/- 0.23(sys)) x 10(-4). The transition form factor is extracted and different expressions are compared to the measured dependence on the e(+)e(-) invariant mass. The results are consistent with the prediction of the vector meson dominance model.

Form factors for semileptonic, nonleptonic, and rareB(Bs)meson decays

2012

We provide new values for the model parameters of the covariant constituent quark model (with built–in infrared confinement) in the meson sector by a fit to the leptonic decay constants and a number of electromagnetic decays. We then evaluate, in a parameter-free way, the form factors of the B(Bs) ! P(V ) transitions in the full kinematical region of momentum transfer. As an application of our results we calculate the widths of the nonleptonic Bs-decays into Ds D + , D s D + s +D s D + s

Coherent pion production off nuclei at T2K and MiniBooNE energies revisited

2010

As a result of a new improved fit to old bubble chamber data of the dominant axial C-5(A) nucleon-to-delta form factor, and due to the relevance of this form factor for neutrino induced coherent pion production, we reevaluate our model predictions in [Phys. Rev. D 79, 013002 ( 2009)] for different observables of the latter reaction. Central values for the total cross sections increase by 20%-30%, while differential cross sections do not change their shape appreciably. Furthermore, we also compute the uncertainties on total, differential, and flux-averaged cross sections induced by the errors in the determination of C-5(A). Our new results turn out to be compatible within about 1 sigma with …

Tau anomalous magnetic moment form factor at Super B/Flavor factories

2008

The proposed high-luminosity B/Flavor factories offer new opportunities for the improved determination of the fundamental physical parameters of standard heavy leptons. Compared to the electron or the muon case, the magnetic properties of the $\tau$ lepton are largely unexplored. We show that the electromagnetic properties of the $\tau$, and in particular its magnetic form factor, may be measured competitively in these facilities, using unpolarized or polarized electron beams. Various observables of the $\tau$'s produced on top of the $\Upsilon$ resonances, such as cross-section and normal polarization for unpolarized electrons or longitudinal and transverse asymmetries for polarized beams,…

Space-like transition form factors from BESIII

2018

Abstract The anomalous magnetic momentum of muon, a μ , has been measured in experiment and calculated in theory with a precision up to ∼0.5 ppm. But there is a long standing 3 to 4 standard deviations between these two accurate values. The dominant contribution to the uncertainty in the theoretical calculation comes from the hadroninc contribution, including contributions from the hadronic vacuum polarization and the hadronic light-by-light. The meson transition form factors measured in two photon process at BESIII can be used as input or constrain for the calculation of the hadronic light-by-light contribution to a μ . Recent experimental activities, including the measurements of the tran…

The two-photon physics program at BESIII

2017

Abstract One of the main aspects of the two-photon physics program of the BESIII Collaboration is the determination of electromagnetic transition form factors (TFF). Precision measurements of TFF are needed as input to the calculations of the contribution of hadronic light-by-light scattering to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon a μ . Data acquired with the BESIII detector allow for the determination of TFF of light pseudoscalar mesons at momentum transfers below 2 GeV2, the region of highest relevance for a μ . The measurements of the TFF of π 0 , η and η ′ mesons, as well as pion pairs, are presented, and the potential for a first double-tagged measurement of the pion transition f…

Nucleon polarization in exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration with polarized electrons and a polarized target

1995

Nucleon polarization in exclusive electrodisintegration of the deuteron using a polarized beam and an oriented target is systematically investigated in a nonrelativistic framework but with lowest order relativistic contributions to the one-body current including the kinematic part of the wave function boost. The structure functions and the asymmetries corresponding to the various nucleon polarization components are studied with respect to their sensitivity to the potential model, to subnuclear degrees of freedom, and to relativistic effects in different kinematical regions. Furthermore, a few new observables are found which are very sensitive to the neutron electric form factor ${\mathit{G}…
