Patient autonomy and criminal law: an Italian perspective

This book shows how the legal systems of individual European countries protect patient autonomy. In particular, it explains the role of criminal law, that is, what criminal law protection of patient autonomy looks like on a European scale in both legal and social dimensions. The chapter focuses on the current state of criminal protection of patient autonomy in the Italian legal system.

This decrease is the consequency of lack of tax receipts. The substitution of family expenditure for State expenditure is occuring in a context of anarchy and inconsistency and jeopardizes the system balance. More drastic reforms are necessary to improve the situation in the field of welfare teachers management.

The literature describes an increasing presence of bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ), characterized by the exposure for over 8 weeks of necrotic bone in the maxillofacial region, after bisphosphonate therapy, in the absence of prior maxillary radiotherapy. For the first time, the nesting of Eurasian crag martin Ptyonoprogne rupestris (Scopoli, 1769) (Passeriformes Hirundinidae) and Little egret Egretta garzetta (Linnaeus, 1766) (Pelecaniformes Ardeidae) in the Aegadian Islands (W-Sicily, Italy) is reported. Of particular interest is the nesting of the Little egret on the island of Maraone resulting in the first report for Sicily of a heronry on a marine island. Although this nesting environment has already been established in Sardinia, it should be emphasized that until now the establishment of a heronry has never been detected on an islet so far from the mainland.

Two hundred and ninety-nine specimens of Atherina boyeri, collected from five Mediterranean sites (three from the open sea (Chioggia, Catania and Gaeta) and two from river mouths (the Birgi and S. Bartolomeo rivers) were analyzed in order to confirm previous genetic studies. Eigtheen loci were scored from 12 enzymatic systems, 3 of which were polymorphic: EST*, PGM* and PGI*. Mean Fst value (0.300, p< 0.05) indicated a high genetic heterogeneity. Pairwise Fst and genetic distance revealed that samples from the river mouths (Birgi and S. Abstract Simple alkylating agents induce cell death by activating the apoptotic pathway. In rodent fibroblasts, apoptosis triggered by DNA methylation lesions is executed via the mitochondrial damage pathway. Here, we studied cell death induced by the methylating agents methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) and N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) in mouse fibroblasts wild-type (wt) and deficient for Apaf-1 (apaf-1 knockout cells). Apaf-1 is an essential component of the apoptosome complex that becomes activated upon cytochrome c release from mitochondria.
