Tracking in Presence of Total Occlusion and Size Variation using Mean Shift and Kalman Filter

International audience; The classical mean shift algorithm for tracking in perfectly arranged conditions constitutes a good object tracking method. However, in the real environment it presents some limitations, especially under the presence of noise, objects with varying size, or occlusions. In order to deal with these problems, this paper proposes a reliable object tracking algorithm using mean shift and the Kalman filter, which was added to the traditional algorithm as a predictor when no reliable model of the object being tracked is found. Je mets ici en évidence, d'une part, les buts que nous souhaitons concrètement atteindre, et d'autre part, les principales contraintes techniques qui leurs sont liées. Therefore systems describing the knowledge of a certain domain should be able to consider changes occurred to keep its knowledge representation up-to-date. Formal ontologies are one of them: they explicitly and formally represent the knowledge of a domain in all its forms and modes of existence. The diamond cone was introduced by N. J. Wildberger for the Lie algebra sl(n;R). It is a combinatoric presentation for the space C[N] of polynomials functions on the nilpotent factor N in the Iwasawa decomposition of SL(n;R). This presentation describes the natural layering of this indecomposable N-module. This basis can be indexeded by using some semi standard Young tableaux. We realize the algebra C[N] as a quotient of the shape algebra S_ for SL(n;R). Let us call reduced shape algebra this quotient.
