The molecular weight distribution (MWD) of a high polymer is calculated from a weakly perturbed Zimm-plot of the classical light scattering on dilute solutions of Gaussian polymer coils (theta state). A typical Zimm-plot is simulated corresponding to the measurements of high accuracy as would be obtained by using the laser photometer described by Hack and Meyerhoff. The accuracy as published by these authors for small dissymmetries is used. Two inversion procedures are described in detail and tested, both of them avoiding the use of an empirical formula for the Laplace image of the calculated MWD. A theoretical determination of the electronic spectrum of Methylenecyclopropene

The vertical electronic spectrum of methylenecyclopropene, the prototype of the nonalternant hydrocarbons known as fulvenes, has been studied using multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory. The calculations comprise three valence states and the 3s, 3p, and 3d members of the Rydberg series converging to the first π ionization limit. Vertical excitation energies to three valence states are found at 4.13, 6.12, and 6.82 eV. The second of them corresponds to an excitation from the highest occupied σ orbital to a π* orbital, while the other two are π → π* excitations. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and plasma and urine amino acid concentrations were compared between three cohorts of healthy term infants who were breast-fed (BF) or randomly assigned to one of two formulas either taurine non-supplemented (FF) or taurine supplemented (FF+T). The formulas had a protein concentration of 2 g/dl (2.9 g/100 kcal) and a whey/casein ratio of 20/80. The infants were studied from 2 to 12 weeks of age. Weight gain and growth in length was normal and similar in all three feeding groups during the study interval. We report the synthesis of h-magnetite, ideally h-Fe 3 O 4 with considerable amounts of substitutional cations (Cr, Mg, Al, Si) and quenchable to ambient conditions. Two types of experiments were performed at 18 GPa and 1800 °C in a multi-anvil press. In one, we used an oxide mixture with a majoritic stoichiometry Mg 1.8 Fe 1.2 (Al 1.4 Cr 0.2 Si 0.2 Mg 0.2 )Si 3 O 12 , with Si and Mg in excess as starting material (MA-367, MA-380). Abstract In this study, 72 samples of follow-up infant formula of Spanish origin were analyzed for the presence of the mycotoxins beauvericin (BEA), enniatins (ENs) (A, A1, B, B1), and fusaproliferin (FUS). The samples analyzed were extracted three times with ethyl acetate and then the mycotoxins were identified and quantified using a liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to a diode array detector (DAD). Low-lying Rydberg states of HCl.

Vertical excitation energies belonging to some different Rydberg series of hydrogen chloride have been determined with a coupled-cluster theoretical approach. These excitation energies have allowed us to calculate electric dipole transition intensities in HCl and allow additional assessment of the calculation approach presently used to provide an adequate description of the valence and Rydberg states of HCl. The molecular quantum defect orbital has been applied to the calculation of oscillator strengths. In particular, new insight is given on the assignment of states as the R1Pi, the 1Delta(4dpi and 5ppi), the 1Sigma+(4dpi), and the nddelta(1Pi, 1Phi) and 4f states.

Ortokeratoloģijas ietekme uz ceturtās kārtas aberācijām.

Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 36 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 7 attēlus, 7 formulas, 7 tabulas, 3 grafikus un 38 literatūras atsauces. Darba mērķis bija novērtēt radzenes sagitālā augstuma un leņķa, kā arī ceturtās kārtas aberāciju izmaiņas pēc ortokeratoloģijas lēcu lietošanas. Pētījumā tika analizēti radzenes topogrāfijas dati, iegūti no 30 acīm, trīs mēnešus lietojot ortokeratoloģijas lēcas. Rezultāti neuzrādīja būtiskas izmaiņas ceturtās kārtas aberāciju lielumos. Modificējot ortokeratoloģijas lēcu parametrus, ir iespējams saglabāt labu redzes asumu un skotopisko redzi pēc ortokeratoloģijas lēcu lietošanas.

Approximate Taylor methods for ODEs

Abstract A new method for the numerical solution of ODEs is presented. This approach is based on an approximate formulation of the Taylor methods that has a much easier implementation than the original Taylor methods, since only the functions in the ODEs, and not their derivatives, are needed, just as in classical Runge–Kutta schemes. Compared to Runge–Kutta methods, the number of function evaluations to achieve a given order is higher, however with the present procedure it is much easier to produce arbitrary high-order schemes, which may be important in some applications.
