Five N-alkylated ammonium resorcarene derivatives, differing either in the nitrogen atom or in the lower rim alkyl chain, were studied using electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. The main purpose was to clarify the fragmentation and the relative stabilities of the protonated molecules by collision-induced dissociation (CID) experiments. The results indicate that fragmentation of the upper rim alkyl amino substituents at the 2-position occurs readily. Variation in the gas-phase stabilities of these molecules was also observed. In addition, the proposed fragmentation pathways are depicted.

Mass spectrometric studies of benzoxazine resorcarenes

Eleven differently substituted 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine resorcarenes were studied by electrospray ionisation (ESI) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometry, using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) and time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometers, respectively. Under ESI conditions it was possible to transfer the intact resorcarenes from solution to the gas phase, yielding [M + H]+ and [M + 2H]+ ions as the main ions observed. Guest-to-host proton transfer in melatonin-beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complex by ionspray, fast atom bombardment and tandem mass spectrometry.

Ionspray (IS) and fast atom bombardment (FAB) positive ionization mass spectrometry (MS) of 1:1 β-cyclodextrin (β-CD)-melatonin (MLT) host-guest complex allowed the detection of gaseous protonated 1:1 β-CD-MLT. Tandem MS collision-induced dissociation (CID) of such protonated 1:1 β-CD-MLT species showed the proton (charge) to be retained to a significant extent by the host and by its cage fragmentation products, in spite of the higher proton affinity of MLT with respect to that of β-CD. Gas phase infrared multiple photon dissociation spectra of positively charged sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate reverse micelle-like aggregates

The capability of infrared multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy to gain structural information on surfactant-based supramolecular aggregates has been exploited to elucidate intermolecular interactions and local organization of positively charged sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOTNa) aggregates in the gas phase. A detailed analysis of the stretching modes of the AOTNa CO and SO(3)(-) head groups allows one to directly probe their interactions with sodium counterions and to gain insight in their organization within the aggregate. A nonstationary cylinder-based model describing group dispersal in a fragmented habitat

International audience; A doubly nonstationary cylinder-based model is built to describe the dispersal of a population from a point source. In this model, each cylinder represents a fraction of the population, i.e., a group. Two contexts are considered: The dispersal can occur in a uniform habitat or in a fragmented habitat described by a conditional Boolean model. After the construction of the models, we investigate their properties: the first and second order moments, the probability that the population vanishes, and the distribution of the spatial extent of the population.

Genotoxic and endocrine activities of bis(hydroxyphenyl)methane (bisphenol F) and its derivatives in the HepG2 cell line

International audience; Human can be exposed to bis(hydroxyphenyl)methane (bisphenol F or BPF) and its derivatives as environment and food's contaminants. This study was investigated to identify and to compare toxic potency of BPF, BFDGE, and two of BPF metabolites using in vitro methods. BPF did not induce any genic mutation in bacteria when the Ames test was performed according to the OECD guideline. In contrast, using Human cell lines and Comet assay, we demonstrated that BPF and Bisphenol F Diglycidyl Ether (BFDGE) were effective on HepG2 cell DNA fragmentation at non-cytotoxic concentrations. Mass spectra of methoxychlorobenzenes (chloroanisoles)

Electron impact mass of all 19 ring-substituted chloroanisoles have been investigated. The fragmentation pathways were elucidated with the aid of the 1st field-free region metastable ions. The greatest disparity between the spectra of the positional isomers is shown with the [M−CH 3 ] + and [M−CH 2 O] +• ions, i.e., the ortho and para isomers preferentially lose • CH 3 , whereas the meta isomers generally show both loss of • CH 3 and elimination of formaldehyde, the latter process being more dominant with the meta-monochloro and di- and trichloro isomers having two meta-chlorine atoms. Phytochemical Profile and Apoptotic Activity of Onopordum cynarocephalum.

A phytochemical investigation of acetone and chloroform extracts of the aerial parts of Onopordum cynarocephalum Boiss. et Blanche was carried out. It led to the isolation of two new sesquiterpenes, the elemane aldehyde (2) and the eudesmane (11), together with 15 known compounds: two lignans (1 and 15) and 13 sesquiterpenes (3–10, 12–14, 16, 17). The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, especially 1D and 2D NMR spectra. Photodimers of cinnamic acid and related compounds. A stereochemical study by electron-impact and field desorption mass spectrometry

The low energy (13 eV) electron-impact and field desorption mass spectra of some photodimers of cinnamic acid and related compounds containing the cyclobutane ring are reported and the fragmentation patterns analysed in order to obtain stereochemical information on the substituent position on the cyclobutane ring. Both symmetrical and asymmetrical splittings of the cyclobutane ring were detected, allowing characterisation of the head-to-head and head-to-tail structures of the title compounds. A ring opening rearrangement of the McLafferty type was also found.

Hydrogels for potential colon drug release by thiol-ene conjugate addition of a new inulin derivative.

Inulin was chosen as a starting polymer for biocompatible, pH-sensitive and biodegradable hydrogels. Three INUDVSA-TT hydrogels were obtained by crosslinking inulin derivatives with trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercaptopropionate) under varying conditions. The resulting hydrogels were cell compatible, as demonstrated by MTS and trypan blue exclusion assays acting on Caco-2 cells, and were biodegraded by inulinase and esterase, thus suggesting their use as colonic drug delivery systems. 2-Methoxyestradiol, an anti-cancer drug, was soaked in INUDVSA-TT hydrogels and its in vitro release and apoptotic effect on Caco-2 cells were evaluated.
