The Challenges of the Schengen Area

2016

After focusing on the Euro crisis, European leaders are now struggling with the biggest migrant crisis since Second World War. Up to now, over 1.1 million migrants have requested protection in Europe, and their number is growing every day. The functioning of the Schengen area is in danger due to control deficiencies at external borders. As it’s facing this challenge, the EU is constantly seeking solutions designed to restore the proper functioning of the system and prevent its collapse.

CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING REGULATIONS ON FINANCIAL MARKETS IN THE CONDITIONS OF ROMANIA AS A EU MEMBER STATE

2018

Financial markets are increasingly becoming an area of major interest to the European Union in its efforts to achieve competitive global development levels similar to those of the United States. LAW AND SOCIAL CHANGE: RIGHT TO A NAME, PERSONAL IDENTITY AND PRIVATE LIFE IN CONTEXT

2014

This study claims that private life and private autonomy are becoming interpretative arguments and vehicles to ensure that law would be able to follow – and sometimes to chase – social changes in personal and family life, in finding new rules to regulate the relationship between the individual, the family and public authorities or between a private individual and the community she interfaces with.1 Judicial interpretative activity often reveals legislative shortcomings. In particular, the judiciary…

Industrial Citizenship, Cosmopolitanism and European Integration

2014

Abstract. There has been an explosion of interest in the idea of European Union citizenship in recent years, as a defining example of postnational cosmopolitan citizenship potentially replacing, or at least layered on top of national citizenships. We argue this form of EU citizenship undermines industrial citizenship, which is a crucial support for the egalitarianism and social solidarity on which other types of citizenship are based. Because industrial citizenship arises from collectivities based in class identities and national institutions, it depends on the nation state erritorial order and the social closure inherent in this. EU citizenship in its current ‘postnational’ form is realize…
