This essay deals with the «Biblioteca dell'Economista», the collection of translated economic texts by Francesco Ferrara. The article examines the role that the editorial series attaches to the French economists and their works. A particular attention is devoted to Ferrara's introductions of books in which the Sicilian scholar analyzes the life and the thought of the authors and compare them to his economic theory and idea of the economist's profession.

This paper analyses the reception of Norbert Wiener’s cybernetics in France with particular attention to the perspective proposed by Gilbert Simondon. The debate that has emerged since the 1950s among the philosophers of the so-called French Theory opens up the possibility of speaking of a revised cybernetics on the basis of the need to go beyond the structural analogy between living being and machine. The present paper investigates the relationship between Simondon and cybernetics by considering his 1953 manuscript, his two doctoral theses and his speech at the Royaumont conference in 1962. This paper aims to identify factors explaining the level of proficiency in written French by immigrants in working age, knowing that few research has been conducted in France on this issue. The originality of this paper is the stochastic production frontier model to explain the scores in written French and the productive performance of immigrants (considered as producers of their own skills). The main results show that mother tongue, age at immigration, social life and mother's diploma are elements which influence the effectiveness of this production. Economic Theorizing, Discursive Analysis and Pluralism in the Classroom - Evidence from Postgraduate Teaching in a French University

Can students examine the discursive strategies employed by economists so that the former think critically about the underlying theoretical forces described by the latter? Are economic processes ontologically dependent on the narratives used by economists to account for real phenomena? In this article, we draw both on Wheat's mapping techniques to homogenise theoretical economic discourse and on Pilkington's attempt to combine economics with language for specific purposes.
