Functional design of power-split CVTs: An uncoupled hierarchical optimized model

2017

Abstract This paper provides a new model for the preliminary design of compound power-split CVTs. Unlike the existing models, the presented method allows the engineers to prioritize functionality and efficiency of the transmission, while delaying the choice of the involved gear sets’ layout as long as possible. The design approach follows a specific priority order, and each step deals with one particular issue, without mutual interference. A smart design-chart eases the assessment and the comparison of the only eligible alternatives, and eventually leads to a final feasible constructive scheme, which can be an excellent concept for further optimization and implementation. Moreover, the mode…

Fast narrowing-driven partial evaluation for inductively sequential programs

2005

Narrowing-driven partial evaluation is a powerful technique for the specialization of (first-order) functional and functional logic programs. However, although it gives good results on small programs, it does not scale up well to realistic problems (e.g., interpreter specialization). In this work, we introduce a faster partial evaluation scheme by ensuring the termination of the process offline . For this purpose, we first characterize a class of programs which are quasi-terminating , i.e., the computations performed with needed narrowing—the symbolic computation mechanism of narrowing-driven partial evaluation—only contain finitely many different terms (and, thus, partial evaluation termi…

X-ray and DFT-calculated structures of a vanadyl Schiff base complex: (methanol-κO)[2-methoxy-6-({2-[(2-oxido-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino]benzyl}imino…

2012

The central VVatom in the title mononuclear oxovanadium complex, [VO(C23H20N2O4)(CH3OH)]·H2O, has a distorted octahedral coordination. Two N atoms and two O atoms of the Schiff base define the base of the bipyramid and two O atoms are in the apical positions, one from vanadyl and the second from methanol. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed for the title complex and its ligand to compare their geometry in the solid and gas phases. Additional analyses were made of the changes in the geometry of the ligand during complex formation. The HOMA (harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity) descriptor of π-electron delocalization was calculated to estimate the aromaticity of t…

A vanadyl Schiff base complex: {2,2'-[1,1'-(o-phenylenedinitrilo)bis(ethan-1-yl-1-ylidene)]diphenolato}oxovanadium(IV).

2011

The green crystals of the title compound, [V(C(22)H(18)N(2)O(2))O], represent a mononuclear oxovanadium complex. The central V(IV) centre has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination. Two N atoms and two O atoms of the Schiff base ligand define the base of the pyramid, and the oxide O atom is in the apical position. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to analyse the changes in the geometry of the ligand during the complex formation. The most significant changes are observed in the values of the torsion angles in the vicinity of the donor N atoms. The HOMA index (Harmonic Oscillator Model of Aromaticity) has been calculated to compare the aromaticity of the benzene r…

Jūras un sauszemes teritoriju funkcionālās sasaistes nodrošināšana pašvaldību teritorijas plānošanas procesā

2019

Spinothalamic and thalamocortical nociceptive pathways

2002

The concept that the perception of a stimulus as being painful requires activity in parts of the cerebral cortex has gained universal recognition within the past 10 years. 28 The large number of functional imaging studies in humans, appearing during that period, have greatly contributed to this development by showing consistent evidence for activation of various cortical areas by painful stimuli, including the primary and secondary somatosensory cortex, the insula, the anterior cingulate gyrus, and prefrontal cortical areas. Thus, the sense of pain—like all other senses— has a representation within the cerebral cortex. These imaging studies, however, did not reveal the pathways by which a p…

Conclusion: Tying It All Together

2018

In this last section of the book, I will try and tie all the earlier discussions together. Expanding on the previous sections, I conclude that from the three concepts, the first is of most importance—the internal dynamics of the music industries. The concept has significant explanatory power as a factor on its own, as well as having significant impact on the two other factors. The internal structures and the (dysfunctional) nature of the music industries clearly create internal frustrations and external hostility. And more importantly, it seems to prevent the music industries from acting on the digital potential that appears.

The “Maslov Anomaly” for the Harmonic Oscillator

2001

Specializing the discussion of the previous section to the harmonic oscillator we have for \(N = 1,\ \eta ^{a} = (p,x),\ a = 1,2,\ \eta ^{1} \equiv p,\ \eta ^{2} \equiv x\) $$\displaystyle{ H(p,x) = \frac{1} {2}\eta ^{a}\eta ^{a} = \frac{1} {2}{\bigl (p^{2} + x^{2}\bigr )}\;. }$$ (30.1) The only conserved quantity is J = H. In the action we need the combination $$\displaystyle{ \frac{1} {2}\eta ^{a}\omega _{ ab}\dot{\eta }^{b} -\mathcal{H}(\eta ) = \frac{1} {2}\eta ^{a}\left [\omega _{ ab} \frac{d} {dt} -{\bigl ( 1 + A(t)\bigr )}\mathrm{1l}_{ab}\right ]\eta ^{b} }$$ (30.2) and $$\displaystyle{ \tilde{M}_{\phantom{a}b}^{a} =\omega ^{ac}\partial _{ c}\partial _{b}(H + AJ\,) ={\bigl ( 1 + A(t)…

Distribution of Eigenvalues for Semi-classical Elliptic Operators with Small Random Perturbations, Results and Outline

2019

In this chapter we will state a result asserting that for elliptic semi-classical (pseudo-)differential operators the eigenvalues are distributed according to Weyl’s law “most of the time” in a probabilistic sense. The first three sections are devoted to the formulation of the results and in the last section we give an outline of the proof that will be carried out in Chaps. 16 and 17.

An Approach to a Version of the S(M, g)-pseudo-differential Calculus on Manifolds

2003

For appropriate triples (M,g,M), where M is an (in general non-compact) manifold, g is a metric on T* M, and M is a weight function on T* M, we develop a pseudo-differential calculus on.A4 which is based on the S(M,g))-calculus of L. Hormander [27] in local models. In order to do so, we generalize the concept of E. Schrohe [41] of so-called SG-compatible manifolds. In the final section we give an outlook onto topological properties of the algebras of pseudo-differential operators. We state the existence of “order reducing operators” and that the algebra of operators of order zero is a submultiplicative Ψ*-algebra in the sense of B. Gramsch [18] in \( \mathcal{L}\left( {{L^2}\left( M \right)…
