Contemporary education capitalizes on the communications technology and remote study. This can create distance between the teacher and students and the resulting lack of awareness of the difficulties students encounter can lead to low student satisfaction, dropout and poor grades. Inflammation underlies both onset and perpetuation of atherosclerosis. Plasma lipoproteins transport the platelet-activating factor-acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) with potentially anti-inflammatory activities. Our aim was to determine whether PAF-AH activity was associated with inflammatory markers and with coronary artery disease (CAD). PAF-AH activity and a panel of inflammatory mediators were measured in plasma of 496 patients with CAD and in 477 controls; 276 patients presented with stable angina pectoris and 220 with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The process of polymers weathering and the methods of polymers weathering and accelerated ageing investigations were characterized. Accelerated ageing tests of polyethylene and polypropylene samples have been done in laboratory conditions. Individual elements of human sexuality interact by strengthening, confirming or denying one another. Moreover, they form a "mosaic" which means every person is a little different. This article presents the process of shaping of sex identity in the prenatal period, taking into account factors that affect it. It also underlines the importance of the functioning of the reproductive period of psycho-sexual health of subsequent generations. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt slodzes intensitātes un ilguma, kā arī fiziskās sagatavotības līmeņa un imobilizācijas ietekmi uz citokīnu un citu slodzes izraisītu signālvielu koncentrācijām asinīs. Kopumā 98 jauni, veseli un fiziski aktīvi vīrieši piedalījās 4 dažādos fiziskās slodzes testos. Asins paraugi citokīnu un citu signālvielu noteikšanai tika ņemti pirms, pēc, kā arī slodzes laikā. Rezultāti liecina, ka akūta fiziskā slodze izraisa iekaisuma molekulu koncentrācijas pieaugumu asinīs. Pieaugot slodzes ilgumam un intensitātei, šī organisma atbildes reakcija pastiprinās, savukārt augstāks fiziskās sagatavotības līmenis šo reakciju samazina. Identification of a new nonsense mutation (Tyr129Stop) of the SRY gene in a newborn infant with XY sex-reversal.

Point mutations and deletions of SRY gene have been described in several cases of XY gonadal dysgenesis. To date, most of these mutations affect the HMG domain of SRY which plays a central role in DNA binding activity of SRY. We report on a non-mosaic XY sex-reversed newborn girl (completely female external genitalia). The direct sequencing of SRY showed a new nonsense mutation in a codon of SRY gene flanking the 3' end of the HMG domain: a thymine is replaced by a guanine at position +387 in codon 129, resulting in the replacement of the amino acid tyrosine (TAT) by a stop codon (TAG). The steroidal module of the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) aims to detect doping with endogenous steroids, e.g. testosterone (T), by longitudinally monitoring several biomarkers. These biomarkers are ratios combined of urinary concentrations of testosterone and metabolically related steroids. However, it is evident after five years of monitoring steroid passports, that there are large variations in the steroid ratios complicating its interpretation.
