MOJAVE. XII. Acceleration of blazar jets

We report on the acceleration properties of 329 features in 95 blazar jets from the MOJAVE Very Long Baseline Array program. Nearly half the features and three-quarters of the jets show significant changes in speed and/or direction. In general, apparent speed changes are distinctly larger than changes in direction, indicating that changes in the Lorentz factors of jet features dominate the observed speed changes rather than bends along the line of sight. Observed accelerations tend to increase the speed of features near the jet base, <~10-20pc projected, and decrease their speed at longer distances. MOJAVE. XIII. New 15GHz observations on 1994-2013

We present 1625 new 15GHz (2cm) VLBA images of 295 jets associated with active galactic nuclei (AGNs) from the MOJAVE and 2cm VLBA surveys, spanning observations between 1994 August 31 and 2013 August 20. For 274 AGNs with at least 5 VLBA epochs, we have analyzed the kinematics of 961 individual bright features in their parsec-scale jets. A total of 122 of these jets have not been previously analyzed by the MOJAVE program. In the case of 451 jet features that had at least 10 epochs, we also examined their kinematics for possible accelerations. Radio-optical scrutiny of compact AGN

We study the correlations between the VLBA (Very Long Baseline Array) radio emission at 15GHz, extended emission at 151MHz, and optical nuclear emission at 5100{AA} for a complete sample of 135 compact jets. We use the partial Kendall's tau correlation analysis to check the link between radio properties of parsec-scale jets and optical nuclear luminosities of host active galactic nuclei (AGN). HAWC Gamma-Ray survey, AGNs at TeV photon energies

The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) Gamma-Ray Observatory continuously detects TeV photons and particles within its large field of view, accumulating every day a deeper exposure of two-thirds of the sky. We analyzed 1523days of HAWC live data acquired over four and a half years, in a follow-up analysis of 138 nearby (z<0.3) active galactic nuclei from the Third Catalog of Hard Fermi-LAT sources culminating within 40{deg} of the zenith at Sierra Negra, the HAWC site. TANAMI II. Additional sources

TANAMI is a multiwavelength program monitoring active galactic nuclei (AGN) south of -30{deg} declination including high-resolution Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) imaging, radio, optical/UV, X-ray and {gamma}-ray studies. We have previously published first-epoch 8.4GHz VLBI images of the parsec-scale structure of the initial sample. In this paper, we present images of 39 additional sources. VRIJHK observations of PKS 2155-304

Spectral variability is the main tool for constraining emission models of BL Lac objects. By means of systematic observations of the BL Lac prototype PKS 2155-304 in the infrared-optical band, we explore variability on the scales of months, days and hours. We made our observations with the robotic 60cm telescope REM located at La Silla, Chile. VRIJHK filters were used. PKS 2155-304 was observed from May to December 2005. The wavelength interval explored, the total number of photometric points and the short integration time render our photometry substantially superior to previous ones for this source. Rich clusters from SDSS DR8

The study of the properties of galaxy clusters and their environment gives us information about the formation and evolution of galaxies, groups and clusters, and larger structures - superclusters of galaxies and the whole cosmic web. We study the relations between the multimodality of galaxy clusters drawn from the SDSS DR8 and the environment where they reside. As cluster environment we consider the global luminosity density field, supercluster membership, and supercluster morphology.

TANAMI monitoring of Centaurus A.

Centaurus A (Cen A) is the closest radio-loud active galactic nucleus. Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) enables us to study the spectral and kinematic behavior of the radio jet-counterjet system on milliarcsecond scales, providing essential information for jet emission and propagation models. In the framework of the TANAMI monitoring, we investigate the kinematics and complex structure of Cen A on subparsec scales. The gNLS1 galaxy PKS 2004-447. VLBI images

Gamma-ray-detected radio-loud narrow-line Seyfert 1 (g-NLS1) galaxies constitute a small but interesting sample of the g-ray-loud AGN. The radio-loudest g-NLS1 known, PKS 2004-447, is located in the southern hemisphere and is monitored in the radio regime by the multiwavelength monitoring programme TANAMI. Sample of weak blazars at mas resolution

We started a follow-up investigation of the "Deep X-ray Radio Blazar Survey" objects with declination >-10{deg} to better understand the blazar phenomenon. We undertook a survey with the European Very Long Baseline Interferometry Network at 5GHz to make the first images of a complete sample of weak blazars, aiming at a follow-up comparison between high- and low-power samples of blazars. We observed 87 sources with the EVN at 5GHz during the period October 2009 to May 2013. The observations were correlated at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Radioastronomie and at the Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe.
