The present study highlights the potential of robust tridentate ferrocenylphosphanes with controlled conformation as catalytic auxiliaries in CO bond formation reactions. Air-stable palladium triphosphane systems are efficient for selective heteroaryl ether synthesis by using as little as 0.2 mol% of catalyst. These findings represent an economically attractive and clean etherification of functionalized phenols, electron-rich, electron-poor and para-, meta- or ortho-substituted substrates, with heteroaryl chlorides, including pyridines, hydroxylated pyridine, pyrimidines and thiazole. Aims: Larvae of the red palm weevil (RPW) Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) feed inside palm stem tissues, making galleries and producing a wet fermenting frass. We characterized the culturable bacteria associated with frass produced by tunnelling larvae inside the Canary island date palms and investigated the role of frass and gut bacteria in plant polymers breakdown. Methods and Results: A culture-dependent method was used to isolate bacteria from frass and noninfested palm tissues. Inorganic phosphate (Pi) plays a key role in the development of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis, which is favoured when Pi is limiting in the environment. We have characterized the Medicago truncatula hypermycorrhizal B9 mutant for its response to limiting (P/10) and replete (P2) Pi. On P2, mycorrhization was significantly higher in B9 plants than in wild-type (WT). The B9 mutant displayed hallmarks of Pi-limited plants, including higher levels of anthocyanins and lower concentrations of Pi in shoots than WT plants. Abstract The interaction of PtCl42− with the new azaparacyclophane 2,5,8,11-tetraaza[12]paracyclophane (L2) has been studied by 1H, 13C and 195Pt NMR spectroscopy. Three different complexes are detected as a function of pH, all of them presenting cis-arrangement of nitrogen donors and chloride anions. In the first one, formed at acidic pH, the central nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic are coordinating to Pt(II) while the benzylic nitrogens remain protonated. Deprotonation of these nitrogens brings about a reorganisation of the complex, and the platinum is then coordinated by one benzylic nitrogen and the consecutive nitrogen in the macrocycle. A solution study of complex formation between iron(III) and oxalate in dimethylsulphoxide

The complex formation between iron(III) and oxalic acid (ethanedioic acid, H2ox) has been studied by potentiometry in dimethylsulphoxide (dmso) solution. H2ox behaves as a weak diprotic acid in such a solvent, with overall association constants: log βj1=8.551(3) and log βj2=14.242(3) at 25°C and 0.1 Mn-Bu4NClO4. A reliable set of overall stability constants for the iron(III)-oxalato complexes, log β11=13.16(4), log β12=23.66(4) and log β13=30.75(4), have been obtained for the first time under identical conditions. <p><em>Pythochemistry screening and testing of antimicrobial and antitumor activities was carried out on 31 species of medicinal plants distributed around Manokwari Regency. All parts of the plants were collected and screened for the presence of alkaloids, saponins, and tannins; antimicrobial and antitumor activity. The number of positive tests obtained are 17 (55, 3%) for alkaloids, 6 (19, 4%) for saponins, and 26 (84, 7%) for tannins. Eleven species shown inhibition activities (antimicrobial) to Candida albicans, Staphyloccocus aureus, and Echericia colii while only seven species have antitumor activity, especially against tumor cell P-388. </em></p>

AbstractThe identity of electron acceptors in promoting anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) in the sediments of boreal lakes is currently unknown. Here, we studied the AOM rate of sediment slurries collected from three profundal stations of a nitrate-rich, oligo-mesotrophic, boreal lake (Lake Pääjärvi, Finland), under varying nitrate concentrations using 13C-labelling. Abstract A novel tetrameric tetra[O-((1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl)]-pentaerythritol (TBTP) has been synthesized using click chemistry strategy. TBTP was characterized and used as ligand to form new Cu(II) complexes, forming 1-D coordination polymers. Two square planar complexes were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, presenting formula [Cu(TBTP)][Cu(NO3)4] (1) and [Cu(TBTP)](NO3)2 (2). In both structures, a cationic 1-D coordination polymer (CP) has been formed. Abstract The concept of supporting meetings at the same time and at the same place with computers raises the problem of how salient features of group behaviors are understood in meetings. In this paper we critically examine some aspects of meeting behaviors. We point out that the idea of small, cohesive business teams is not necessarily a valid starting point in thinking of all meeting support.
