We have translated and annotated an extended review from "Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine" reporting on the publication, in English translation, of "Promenade de Dieppe aux montagnes d'Écosse" by Charles Nodier ("Promenade from Dieppe to the Mountains of Scotland", Edinburg, Blackwood, London, Cadell, 1822). Incidence and anatomy of gaze-evoked nystagmus in patients with cerebellar lesions.

Background: Disorders of gaze-holding—organized by a neural network located in the brainstem or the cerebellum—may lead to nystagmus. Based on previous animal studies it was concluded that one key player of the cerebellar part of this gaze-holding neural network is the flocculus. Up to now, in humans there are no systematic studies in patients with cerebellar lesions examining one of the most common forms of nystagmus: gaze-evoked nystagmus (GEN). Vegetation growth parameters and leaf temperature: Experimental results from a six plots green roofs' system

Abstract The paper provides a contribution for populating database of three physical parameters needed to model energy performance of buildings with green roofs: “coverage ratio” ( σ f ), leaf area index (LAI) and leaf temperature ( T f ). On purpose, six plant species were investigated experimentally: Phyla nordiflora, Aptenia lancifolia , Mesembryanthenum barbatus , Gazania nivea, Gazania uniflora , and Sedum . Proper ranges of the cited parameters have been found for each species. The here indicated ranges of σ f values refer to different growth levels of the species in the same lapse of time, that is four months. Metodo innovativo particolarmente semplice (solo due equazioni monomie) che consente di dimensionare ali gocciolanti comunque pendenti lungo i filari irrigui, massimizzando al tempo stesso il risparmio energetico (Baiamonte, 2018a). Il metodo pertanto sostituisce quello tradizionale basato su numerosi tentativi di calcolo di natura iterativa.

Il saggio affronta l'istituto della cessione del credito e si interroga sulla reale portata dogmatica. In particolare, l'autore si sofferma sugli effetti che la cessione del credito determina sul rapporto obbligatorio. La modificazione di quest'ultimo che la cessione produce sta alla base della regola di cui all'art. 1264 c.c., che, a dispetto di quanto ritenuto dalla dottrina largamente prevalente, non contiene una disposizione sull'efficacia relativa della cessione, ma disciplina la fase conclusiva del procedimento di modificazione del lato attivo dell'obbligazione. Comparison of thermal‐ and photo‐polymerization of lauryl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC

Lauryl methacrylate-based (LMA) monolithic columns for CEC, prepared using either thermal initiation or by UV-irradiation in the presence of AIBN have been compared. Thermal polymerization was carried out at 70 degrees C for 20 h. For UV initiation, the effects of the time exposure to UV light and irradiation energy were investigated. For each initiation process, the influence of composition of porogenic solvent (1,4-butanediol/1-propanol ratio) on the physical and electrochromatographic properties of the resulting monoliths was also evaluated.
