Optical properties and photosensitivity of vacuum synthesized Ge-doped sol-gel amorphous SiO/sub 2/

We report optical and electron paramagnetic resonance investigations of gamma ray irradiation effects in sol-gel Ge-doped amorphous SiO/sub 2/. The studied materials have Ge-doping levels up to 10/sup 4/ molar part per million and were densified by two routes differing for the atmosphere: O/sub 2/+N/sub 2/ or vacuum. The obtained results evidence that irradiation affects matrix sites inducing paramagnetic defects. Furthermore, the comparison between the two densification procedures shows that vacuum atmosphere induces higher radiation sensitivity.

Strongly luminescent and highly soluble oligo(phenylenevinylene)s with five benzene rings and cyano groups in different positions of the terminal styrene units were prepared by means of Horner and Knoevenagel reactions. The substitution pattern − cyanide moieties on the vinyl or on the aromatic regions, together with the effect of auxochromic groups − has distinct influences on the electronic spectra, particularly on the fluorescence. Polar solvents induce red shifts and strongly reduce the fluorescence intensity of the vinyl-substituted oligomers. Tässä maisterintutkielmassa tarkasteltiin sosiaalisessa mediassa esiintyviä asiakkaiden ja yrityksen välisiä julkisia keskusteluita eli valitustilanteita, jotka saivat alkunsa asiakkaiden julkisesti esittämistä kielteisistä asiakaspalautteista. One of the first instruments that was produced in Silesia in the spirit of the Orgelbewegung was the organ of the Youth Leisure and Training Centre in Kłodzko-Jurandów. This centre, founded on the initiative of Richard Poppe, became a source of renewal for the Singbewegung in Eastern Germany. The instrument, called Ver sacrum (Sacred Spring), was meant to commemorate and remind everyone of all those who had sacrificed themselves and given their lives for their Fatherland (in particular, the fallen soldiers of the First World War). Context: Stellar pulsations in main-sequence B-type stars are driven by the kappa-mechanism due to the Fe-group opacity bump. The current models do not predict the presence of instability strips in the B spectral domain at very low metallicities. As the metallicity of the SMC is lower than Z=0.005, it constitutes a very suitable object to test these predictions. Quantitative Approximation Properties for the Fractional Heat Equation

In this note we analyse \emph{quantitative} approximation properties of a certain class of \emph{nonlocal} equations: Viewing the fractional heat equation as a model problem, which involves both \emph{local} and \emph{nonlocal} pseudodifferential operators, we study quantitative approximation properties of solutions to it. First, relying on Runge type arguments, we give an alternative proof of certain \emph{qualitative} approximation results from \cite{DSV16}.
