ABSTRACT The human papillomavirus (HPV) capsid protein L2 is essential for viral entry. To gain a deeper understanding of the role of L2, we searched for novel cellular L2-interacting proteins. A yeast two-hybrid analysis uncovered the actin-depolymerizing factor gelsolin, the membrane glycoprotein dysadherin, the centrosomal protein 68 (Cep68), and the cytoskeletal adaptor protein obscurin-like 1 protein (OBSL1) as putative L2 binding molecules. ERK3/MAPK6 controls IL-8 production and chemotaxis

ERK3 is a ubiquitously expressed member of the atypical mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and the physiological significance of its short half-life remains unclear. By employing gastrointestinal 3D organoids, we detect that ERK3 protein levels steadily decrease during epithelial differentiation. ERK3 is not required for 3D growth of human gastric epithelium. However, ERK3 is stabilized and activated in tumorigenic cells, but deteriorates over time in primary cells in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Endogenously expressed TSH receptors (TSHRs) on orbital fibroblasts of patients with Graves ophthalmopathy (GO) use crosstalk with IGF1 receptors (IGF1R) to synergistically stimulate secretion of hyaluronan (HA), a major component of GO pathology. We previously showed crosstalk occurred upstream of mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK) phosphorylation. The Murine Leukemia Virus (MLV) is a gammaretrovirus that hijack host components of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) for budding. To determine the minimal requirements for ESCRT factors in MLV viral and viral-like particles (VLP) release, an siRNA knockdown screen of ESCRT(-associated) proteins was performed in MLV-producing human cells. Social insect colonies are characterized by division of labor, with workers specializing in brood care early and foraging later in life.
