Common fixed points of mappings satisfying implicit contractive conditions

In this article we obtain, in the setting of metric spaces or ordered metric spaces, coincidence point, and common fixed point theorems for self-mappings in a general class of contractions defined by an implicit relation. Our results unify, extend, generalize many related common fixed point theorems from the literature. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000): 47H10, 54H25.

The periods of the generalized Jacobian of a complex elliptic curve

Abstract We show that the toroidal Lie group G = ℂ2/Λ, where Λ is the lattice generated by (1, 0), (0, 1) and (τ̂, τ͂), with τ̂ ∉ ℝ, is isomorphic to the generalized Jacobian JL of the complex elliptic curve C with modulus τ̂, defined by any divisor class L ≡ (M) + (N) of C fulfilling M − N = [℘ (τ͂) : ℘´(τ͂) : 1] ∈ C. This follows from an apparently new relation between the Weierstrass sigma and elliptic functions.

Subdivision into i-packings and S-packing chromatic number of some lattices

For a nondecreasing sequence of integers ?$S=(s_1,s_2,\ldots)$?, the?$S$?-packing chromatic number of a graph ?$G$? is the least integer ?$k$? such that there exists a coloring of ?$G$? into ?$k$? colors where each set of vertices colored ?$i$?, ?$i=1,\ldots,k$?, is an ?$s_i$?-packing. This paper describes various subdivisions of an ?$i$?-packing into ?$j$?-packings ?$(j>i)$? for the hexagonal, square and triangular lattices. Quotients of Hypersurfaces in Weighted Projective Space

Abstract In [Bini, van Geemen, Kelly, Mirror quintics, discrete symmetries and Shioda maps, 2009] some quotients of one-parameter families of Calabi–Yau varieties are related to the family of Mirror Quintics by using a construction due to Shioda. In this paper, we generalize this construction to a wider class of varieties. More specifically, let A be an invertible matrix with non-negative integer entries. We introduce varieties XA and in weighted projective space and in , respectively. The variety turns out to be a quotient of a Fermat variety by a finite group. Integral curves of derivations

We integrate, by a constructive method, derivations of even degree on the sections of an exterior bundle by families of Z 2-graded algebra automorphisms, dependent on a real parameter, and which satisfy a flow condition. We also study the case of local endomorphisms when their components of degree zero and derivations and with no component of negative degree, but then we have integral families of R-linear automorphisms. This integration method can be applied to the Frolicher—Nijenhuis derivations on the Cartan algebra of differential forms, and to the integration of superfields on graded manifolds.

On minimal non-PC-groups

On dit qu'un groupe G est un PC-groupe, si pour tout x ∈ G, G/C G (x G ) est une extension d'un groupe polycyclique par un groupe fini. Un non-PC-groupe minimal est un groupe qui n'est pas un PC-groupe mais dont tous les sous-groupes propres sont des PC-groupes. Notre principal resultat est qu'un non-PC-groupe minimal ayant un groupe quotient fini non-trivial est une extension cyclique finie d'un groupe abelien divisible de rang fini.

Existence and uniqueness of solutions to superdifferential equations

Abstract We state and prove the theorem of existence and uniqueness of solutions to ordinary superdifferential equations on supermanifolds. It is shown that any supervector field, X = X0 + X1, has a unique integral flow, Г: R 1¦1 x (M, AM) → (M, AM), satisfying a given initial condition. A necessary and sufficient condition for this integral flow to yield an R 1¦1-action is obtained: the homogeneous components, X0, and, X1, of the given field must define a Lie superalgebra of dimension (1, 1). Critical points of higher order for the normal map of immersions in Rd

We study the critical points of the normal map v : NM -> Rk+n, where M is an immersed k-dimensional submanifold of Rk+n, NM is the normal bundle of M and v(m, u) = m + u if u is an element of NmM. Usually, the image of these critical points is called the focal set. However, in that set there is a subset where the focusing is highest, as happens in the case of curves in R-3 with the curve of the centers of spheres with contact of third order with the curve. We give a definition of r-critical points of a smooth map between manifolds, and apply it to study the 2 and 3-critical points of the normal map in general and the 2-critical points for the case k = n = 2 in detail. Time flow in dynamical systems is reconsidered in the ultralong time limit. The ultralong time limit is a limit in which a discretized time flow is iterated infinitely often and the discretization time step is infinite. The new limit is used to study induced flows in ergodic theory, in particular for subsets of measure zero. Induced flows on subsets of measure zero require an infinite renormalization of time in the ultralong time limit. It is found that induced flows are given generically by stable convolution semigroups and not by the conventional translation groups.
