The subjects of his works were: politics (war in the Persian Bay); history (death camp Auschwitz); literature (literary biographies of Kafka, Goethe, and Novalis); culture and religion (the New Testament), and various universal issues (love, death, friendship, hope, despair). Numerous lists of the premonitory signs of the Last Judgment and wider narratives focussing on the same motif, which presents variants and articulated typologies, circulated throughout the Middle Ages, both in Latin and in the vernacular languages. Also in Germany the motif continues to be present in literature up to the threshold of the modern age, with the Lutheran Reform which is, also in this case, a watershed. Que el lector medio sepa cuántas traducciones existen o cuándo se llevó a cabo la versión que está leyendo, es algo extraño. Y más extraño todavía es que el lector sepa quién ha sido el traductor, a no ser que se trate de los “traductores estrella” de la literatura alemana, en el caso del Quijote, Ludwig Tieck, en otros casos, por ejemplo, August Wilhelm Schlegel, Arthur Schopenauer, Walter Benjamin o Stefan Zweig. This paper deals with Gombrowicz’s novel „Pornografia” which can be interpreted as a third space where different literary discourses and philosophical concepts are interwoven. In this respect two German authors deserve special attention: Thomas Mann and Friedrich Nietzsche. It is the aim of this article to show to what extent Gombrowicz refers to the writings of these two authors in his attempt to establish himself as an important writer during his exile in Argentina. Desde finales de los años 50 hasta la crisis del petróleo en 1973, el desarrollo económico de Alemania precisó de una enorme afluencia de mano obrera inmigrante. El paro y la pobreza llevaron a muchos españoles a buscar mejores condiciones de vida en la emigración a Europa, fomentados además desde las instancias oficiales. El encuentro entre ambas culturas frecuentemente iba acompañado de un complicado proceso de adaptación a los países receptores e hizo aflorar diversos prejuicios, estereotipos y autoestereotipos que esta ponencia pretende analizar con la ayuda de material documental.
