Consumer Acceptance Determinants of Internet of Things : A New Perspective

2018

International audience; Despite the rising popularity of Internet of Things (IoT), consumer acceptance continues to grow at a slow pace. For example, adoption of health and fitness wearables is still relatively low and about a half of consumers abandon their wearables within the first six months. This pattern means that firms engaged in IoT industry can not recover their development and marketing costs. Recent research offer a fragmented view of the determinants of IoT consumer acceptance and focus mainly on functional attributes. This paper aims to provide a new perspective. Drawing on the service-dominant logic, the perceived value conceptualization and the customer experience approach, ou…

Strategies to reduce lipid consumption

2020

Abstract Lipids are macronutrients that have important functions in the body like storing energy, signaling, and acting as structural components in cell membranes. However, the daily consumption of a high-lipid diet has been involved in the development and maintenance of obesity, a disease which its prevalence is increasing globally. Because of that, the food industry is working in strategies to develop new food products with the aim of reducing the lipid intake. Among these strategies are (1) changes in the structural design of food, (2) the use of carbohydrate and/or fat substitutes, and (3) the inhibition of enzymes responsible for the digestion of sugars and/or lipids. These strategies …

Satiety in face of variety: On sensory-specific satiety and perceived food variety

2013

Sensory-specific satiety (SSS) is the relative decrease in sensory pleasure derived from a specific food or drink with its consumption. Such satiation does not require ingestion, but hinges on exposure to a given flavour. As it affects meal termination, it is important in determining overall intake. Variety in a meal or dish undermines SSS and promotes consumption of the meal. In the present study, the hypothesis that the mere presentation and suggestion of food variety can undermine SSS was examined in a sample of 92 undergraduate students. All participants ate several bite-sized servings of a test food to induce SSS, but participants in the experimental group were shown another food durin…

A Holistic Approach to Comprehending the Complexity of the Post-growth Era: The Emerging Profile

2015

The goal of this study is to investigate the problems caused by the rapid growth of the global economy, coupled with high population growth and the excessive exploitation of natural resources. The global economy will not be able to maintain its current speed of growth in the long term, so a paradigm shift in production and consumption is necessary, if the collapse of ecosystems and the concurrent depletion of natural resources are to be avoided. This is the reason why capitalism needs to take a turn towards a sustainable and naturally harmonized development model.
