In the paper the applicability of a numerical model, i.e. SWAP (Soil Water Atmosphere Plant), and a functional model, i.e. FAO 56, for irrigation scheduling is assessed. Model validation was initially carried out through the comparison between simulated and measured water content of a soil profile. The two models were then used in order to verify the possibility to simulate the typical irrigation management of the study area. In particular, the attitude of the two models to simulate the number and the distribution of watering, as well as the seasonal water consumption found in the ordinary management irrigation was assessed. Game theory as a marketing tool: uses and limitations

The growth of complexity of the business environment in which firms operate, calls for more effective tools, able to consider the effect of the strategic choices of the actors of the market and to supply information useful for managerial decision process. Game theory seems to be an ideal candidate for this scope. Nevertheless, because of its axiomatic approach, its validity to highlight and define marketing issues has many critics. This paper analyses the main literature about the use of game theory for marketing management decisions and highlights its limits in this field in order to answer to the question: Can game theory be an effective marketing tool?

Sicily currently has no forest areas with certification of sustainable forest management. This work analyzes the possibility of applying the criteria and indicators of PEFC certification of sustainable forest management in two study-cases: the municipal forest of Bivona (AG) and a forest area in the Madonie Mountains (PA). Both are representative of different and important Sicilian forest ecosystems. This analysis highlights the main weaknesses related to current forest management practices and the inadequate consultation with stakeholders.
Functional data analysis for optimizing strategies of cash flow management

The cash management deals with problem of automating and managing cash flow processes. Optimization of the management processes greatly reduces overall cash handling costs. The present analysis is an empirical study of cash flows, from and to bank branches, deriving an underlying theoretical framework, which can in a reasonable way be connected with the optimal strategy.
