The wage curve and local monopsony power

AbstractUsing longitudinal micro-data from Finland, a country with a geographically dispersed population and relatively long distances between local labor markets, this paper examines the responsiveness of the pay level to local unemployment conditions. In particular, this study tests the hypothesis that the pay level is more responsive to the unemployment level in less agglomerated and more remote regions as might be expected if employers have a higher degree of monopsony power in such regions. The frescoes at marine thermae discovered in 1886 during the excavation of the small thermal complex dating between the 1th and 3rd century AD, and located on the seafront of Reggio Calabria, have been collected already collapsed. They are currently part of the permanent exhibition of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. This paper illustrates the results of the restoration intervention, carried out in the form of an educational activity in the context of an agreement signed between the MarRC and the University of Calabria, and the results of the diagnostic investigations carried out by the IPCF-CNR of Messina and the STEBICEF department of the University of Palermo.

In questa lavoro sono state affrontate le problematiche relative alla valutazione dello stato di conservazione del legno archeologico sommerso (waterlogged wood) in relazione ai fattori che ne inducono il degrado. L’attenzione è stata rivolta ai processi di biodeterioramento, indotti dall’attività di alcuni microrganismi che utilizzano le componenti principali del legno, la cui identificazione è stata eseguita ricorrendo a tecniche sia colturali sia molecolari. L'Estetica della Natura nel Trascendentalismo americano
La tesi ricostruisce la visione estetica dei padri del Trascendentalismo americano, Ralph Waldo Emerson ed Henry David Thoreau. L'analisi è incentrata sull'esperienza estetica della natura, intesa come via privilegiata di cui l'uomo dispone per la conoscenza di se stesso, attraverso "lo splendido labirinto delle percezioni" e delle forme naturali. La ricerca analizza i tre saggi principali sulla natura di Emerson, redatti in un periodo che va dal 1836 al 1844, e il capolavoro di Thoreau, Walden del 1854, che declina la ricerca del maestro Emerson in modo originale, concentrandosi sulla nozione di selvaggio.

This essay follows fits into an ongoing project dedicated to highlighting the rhetorical and ideological representations of food and wine in cinema It carries out a semiotic analysis of the film A good year (by Ridley Scott, with the aim of identifying the role that wine plays in it and in the touristic imaginary about it. The essay pursues this goal by facing the issue of authenticity in tour ism as posed by Culler and by reconstructing the implicit aesthetic and touristic theory on which the film may be positioned.
