Optical encryption with compressive ghost imaging
2011
Ghost imaging (GI) is a novel technique where the optical information of an object is encoded in the correlation of the intensity fluctuations of a light source. Computational GI (CGI) is a variant of the standard procedure that uses a single bucket detector. Recently, we proposed to use CGI to encrypt and transmit the object information to a remote party [1]. The optical encryption scheme shows compressibility and robustness to eavesdropping attacks. The reconstruction algorithm provides a relative low quality images and requires high acquisitions times. A procedure to overcome such limitations is to combine CGI with compressive sampling (CS), an advanced signal processing theory that expl…
Meanings of travel in the musical discourse of blues: Roosevelt “Grey Ghost” Williams and “Lonesome Traveller”
2016
2019
Greek tradition links the death of regent Pausanias of Sparta with ghosts. In this paper, we focus on the well-known episode that revolves around Pausanias himself and a Byzantine maiden and is transmitted by Aristodemus, Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes. The multiplicity of versions demands a comparative analysis, which we carry out taking into account the three spaces where the narrative action takes place (civic, intimate and ritual spaces). Results indicate a concordance between Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes, as well as a dissonance between them and Aristodemus. This difference especially affects the narrative treatment of the maiden, a ghost properly so-called in Plutarch and Paus…
Resonance phenomena in a nonlinear neuronal circuit
2015
International audience; We characterizes a nonlinear circuit driven by a bichromatic excitation, that is the sum of two sinusoidal waves with different frequencies f1 and f2 suchthat f2 > f1. Our experiments are confirmed by a numerical analysis of the systemresponse obtained by solving numerically the differential equations which rule thecircuit voltages. Especially, we highlight that the response of the system at the lowfrequency can be optimized by the amplitude of the high frequency. By revisiting thiswell known vibrational resonance effect in the whole amplitude frequency parametricplane, we show experimentally and numerically that a much better resonance can beachieved when the two fre…
Noise contribution to resonance phenomena and information propagation in non linear electronic networks
2015
This manuscript presents research aiming to show possible positive effects of deterministic and stochastic perturbations on the responses of different nonlinear systems. To that end, both numerical and experimental studies were carried out on two kinds of structures : an elementary electronic FitzHugh-Nagumo oscillator and an electrical line developed by resistively coupling 45 elementary cells. In the first section, the elementary cell characterization was undertaken in a deterministic regime. In the presence of a bichromatic stimulus, it is shown that when the low frequency component is subthreshold, its detection can be maximized for an optimal magnitude of the second component thanks to…
An SVD-Based Approach for Ghost Detection and Removal in High Dynamic Range Images
2012
International audience; In this paper, we propose a simple method for the ghost detection problem in the context of merging multiple low dynamic range (LDR) images to form a high dynamic range (HDR) image. We show that the second biggest singular values extracted over local spatio-temporal neighbourhoods can be effectively used for ghost region detection. Furthermore, we combine the proposed method with an exposure fusion technique to generate final HDR image free of ghosting artefacts. We present experimental results to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method and quantitative comparison with other existing approaches show the good performance of our method in detecting and removin…
Supercontinuum spectral-domain ghost imaging
2018
International audience; Ghost imaging is a technique that generates high-resolution images by correlating the intensity of two light beams, neither of which independently contains useful information about the shape of the object. Ghost imaging has been demonstrated in both the spatial and temporal domains, using incoherent classical light sources or entangled photon pairs. Here we exploit the recent progress in ultrafast real-time measurement techniques to demonstrate ultrafast, scan-free, ghost imaging in the frequency domain using a continuous spectrum from an incoherent supercontinuum light source with random spectral fluctuations. We demonstrate the application of this technique to broa…
Nonlinear resonances and some of their applications to information processing
2021
The study of resonance phenomena in nonlinear dynamical systems has drawn considerable attention for years. The most studied nonlinear resonance is undoubtedly the famous stochastic resonance, which consists of perturbing a nonlinear system with an appropriate amount of noise to enhance the detection of a subthreshold input signal. Since the introduction of stochastic resonance in the context of climate dynamics, it was later observed that a deterministic high frequency perturbation can replace noise leading to vibrational resonance. Even if this latter resonance was investigated in many areas of science for more than two decades now, it is still receiving attentions. It is the subject of t…
