A line-shape analysis for spin-1 NMR signals

An analytic model of the deuteron absorption function has been developed and is compared to experimental NMR signals of deuterated butanol obtained at the SMC experiment in order to determine the deuteron polarization. The absorption function model includes dipolar broadening and a frequency-dependent treatment of the intensity factors. The high-precision TE signal data available are used to adjust the model for Q-meter distortions and dispersion effects. Once the Q-meter adjustment is made, the enhanced polarizations determined by the asymmetry and TE-calibration methods compare well within the accuracy of each method. HP-Xe to go: Storage and Transportation of Hyperpolarized 129-Xe

Abstract Recently the spin–lattice relaxation time T 1 of hyperpolarized (HP)- 129 Xe was significantly improved by using uncoated and Rb-free storage vessels of GE180 glass. For these cells, a simple procedure was established to obtain reproducible wall relaxation times of about 18 h. Then the limiting relaxation mechanism in pure Xe is due to the coupling between the nuclear spins and the angular momentum of the Xe–Xe van-der-Waals-molecules. This mechanism can be significantly reduced by using different buffer gases of which CO 2 was discovered to be the most efficient so far. This chapter examines the way surveillance is discussed in the leading Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat after the revelations made by former NSA-contractor Edward Snowden. In 2013, Snowden provided journalists with documents that revealed the unexpected extent of surveillance conducted by security agencies such as the NSA. Drawing on Critical Discourse Studies and a Foucauldian view of discourse, this article understands media discussions following the Snowden revelations as discursive struggles where the legitimacy and future of surveillance are being constructed and debated. The article scrutinises the main narratives adopted by the E.U., the U.S. and China in the fight for digital sovereignty. It analyses the ongoing dialogue between legal systems that is taking place in the digital sphere to ponder on the role of comparative law in this dialogue. With legal systems called to apply a territorial law to a global phenomenon, comparative law proves to be a fundamental tool in the dispute for digital sovereignty, widely employed across legal formants, with a critical role in creating a distinctive identity for the legal systems.
