A real-world economic analysis of biologic therapies for psoriatic arthritis in Italy: results of the CHRONOS observational longitudinal study

2022

Abstract Background Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic, immune-mediated, spondyloarthropathy characterised by musculoskeletal signs and symptoms with associated joint pain and tenderness. The average worldwide PsA prevalence is 133/100,000, while in the Italian population is 90–420/100,000. Traditionally, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoid, and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs have been used in the treatment of PsA. However, for those patients who are not adequately controlled with conventional therapies, the new biologics compounds represent a valid option. Biologic therapies have been shown to be more effective but also more expensive than conventional systemic …

Novel Iris Biometric Watermarking Based on Singular Value Decomposition and Discrete Cosine Transform

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2014/926170 A novel iris biometric watermarking scheme is proposed focusing on iris recognition instead of the traditional watermark for increasing the security of the digital products. The preprocess of iris image is to be done firstly, which generates the iris biometric template from person's eye images. And then the templates are to be on discrete cosine transform; the value of the discrete cosine is encoded to BCH error control coding. The host image is divided into four areas equally correspondingly. The BCH codes are embedded in the sing…

Possible functions of biomineralization of some Textulariid (Foraminifera) species of the Nw Iberian Margin

2016

The main goal of this work is to analyze the elemental composition of the test’s wall of some species/specimens of Textulariids (sub-class Subclass Textulariia), collected in surface sediments of the NW Iberian Margin. The elemental analyses was based on the Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) on the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM; Hitachi, S4100) of Textularia deltoidea, Textularia agglutinans, Sahulia conica, Karrerotextularia flintii, Siphotextularia heterostoma, Karreriella bradyi, Spiroplectammina sagittula and Arenoparrella mexicana . The elelemetal cocnentrations of the species wall were compared with the mineralogical composition (X-Ray diffraction) of the sediments of the stati…

Neurocognitive endophenotypes in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder: A systematic review of longitudinal family studies

2018

Although there is substantial evidence supporting the existence of neurocognitive impairment in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia (SZ) and bipolar disorder (BD), few studies have explored the field from an endophenotypic perspective. The present systematic review sought to identify longitudinal family studies exploring suitable neurocognitive endophenotypes in unaffected relatives of patients with SZ and/or BD. Following the PRISMA statement, only five follow-up studies met the inclusion criteria, comprising 79 SZ patients, 159 SZ unaffected relatives of SZ, 131 BD patients, 77 unaffected relatives of BD, and 248 controls. Verbal memory, auditory attention, face memory and emotion proce…

Coexistence of single-mode and multi-longitudinal mode emission in the ring laser model

2005

A homogeneously broadened unidirectonal ring laser can emit in several longitudinal modes for large enough pump and cavity length because of Rabi splitting induced gain. This is the so called Risken-Nummedal-Graham-Haken (RNGH) instability. We investigate numerically the properties of the multi-mode solution. We show that this solution can coexist with the single-mode one, and its stability domain can extend to pump values smaller than the critical pump of the RNGH instability. Morevoer, we show that the multi-mode solution for large pump values is affected by two different instabilities: a pitchfork bifurcation, which preserves phase-locking, and a Hopf bifurcation, which destroys it.

Teaching Competences Through ICTs in an English Degree Programme in a Spanish Setting

2012

In this chapter I shall describe the ways in which a group of lecturers in English language and linguistics have attempted to help students acquire competencies using ICTs in an English Studies degree programme in Spain. The introduction of competence-based learning constitutes a major paradigm shift brought about by the convergence of degree systems in the European Higher Education Area, and is part of a concerted effort to make our degrees less teacher-centred with a view to giving students greater opportunities to participate in their own learning process, both inside and outside the classroom. I will outline how general and discipline-specific competences are acquired through the use of…

Free-depths reconstruction with synthetic impulse response in integral imaging

2015

Integral Imaging provides spatial and angular information of three-dimensional (3D) objects, which can be used both for 3D display and for computational post-processing purposes. In order to recover the depth information from an integral image, several algorithms have been developed. In this paper, we propose a new free depth synthesis and reconstruction method based on the two-dimensional (2D) deconvolution between the integral image and a simplified version of the periodic impulse response function (IRF) of the system. The period of the IRF depends directly on the axial position within the object space. Then, we can retrieve the depth information by performing the deconvolution with compu…

Sparse Deconvolution Using Support Vector Machines

2008

Sparse deconvolution is a classical subject in digital signal processing, having many practical applications. Support vector machine (SVM) algorithms show a series of characteristics, such as sparse solutions and implicit regularization, which make them attractive for solving sparse deconvolution problems. Here, a sparse deconvolution algorithm based on the SVM framework for signal processing is presented and analyzed, including comparative evaluations of its performance from the points of view of estimation and detection capabilities, and of robustness with respect to non-Gaussian additive noise. Blockchain e pubblica amministrazione: stato dell'arte e prospettive

2021
