Teacher turn-allocation and repair practices in classroom interaction : a multisemiotic perspective

This study describes teacher turn-allocation and repair practices in classroom interaction. The primary aim is to investigate what kinds of embodied actions and other semiotic resources teachers draw on when allocating turns to next speakers and when projecting repair actions in activities structured according to the tripartite instructional sequence of Initiation-Response-Evaluation. The study combines the theoretical and methodological framework of Conversation Analysis and a Goodwinian view of interaction as dynamically and reflexively created through a myriad of semiotic resources. This paper approaches classroom interaction from a pragmatic perspective. More specifically, it concentrates on two different types of classrooms where English is either the object or the medium of study. Rather than assessing students’ linguistic skills, the purpose is to analyse how English is put to use in these two settings, for what kinds of social and interactional purposes. The fi ndings show how the different institutional role of English is refl ected at the level of interaction. Opettajien tunteita on tutkittu yhä enemmän muutaman kuluneen vuosikymmenen aikana. Tämän kirjallisuuskatsauksen tarkoituksena on esitellä ja arvioida viimeaikaisia tutkimuksia, jotka koskevat opettajien oppilaisiin liittyviä tunteita. Lisäksi tarkastelussa ovat englanninopettajien oppilaisiin liittyvät tunteet. Tämä katsaus on osa pro gradu -tutkielmaani Opettajankoulutuslaitoksella. Millaista etäkokousten vuorovaikutus on, ja miten sitä viedään eteenpäin? Onko väliä, käytetäänkö videoyhteyttä? Millaiset käytänteet ovat hyviä ja toimivia? Tällaisiin kysymyksiin etsin vastauksia englannin kielen väitöskirjassani, jossa tarkastelin mikrotasolla erään kansainvälisen yrityksen teknologiavälitteisiä kokouksia. Vaikka kansainvälisessä ympäristössä työskentelyn kulmakivenä pidetään usein hyvää englannin kielen taitoa, tutkimukseni tulokset osoittavat, ettei se suinkaan ole ainut asia, mitä etäkokouksissa tarvitaan. Background: The secular decline in labor market participation and the concurrent increase in opioid use in many developed countries have sparked a policy debate on the possible connection between these two trends. We examined whether the use of prescription opioids was connected to labor market outcomes relating to participation, employment and unemployment among the Finnish population. Silto acu komprešu ietekme uz acs asaru slāņa īpašībām

Pētījuma mērķis bija novērtēt silto komprešu terapijas efektivitāti uz asaru slāņa īpašībām pacientiem ar sausas acs subjektīvo simptomātiku. 18 pētījuma dalībniekieki, lietojot TheraPearl acu maskas divas reizes dienā no rīta un vakarā pa 5 vai 10 minūtēm, veica silto komprešu terapiju 14 dienu periodā. Diagnostikie mērījumi pirms terapijas, pēc terapijas un trīs nedēļas pēc terapijas beigām tika veikti asaru slāņa īpašību novērtēšanai. Dalībnieki pēc terapijas uzrādīja ievērojamu OSDI un DEQ-5 anketu rezultāta uzlabošanos un uzlabojums saglabājās arī trīs nedēļas pēc terapijas beigām. Pēc terapijas netika novērots statiski būtisks uzlabojums neinvazīvajā asaru slāņa plīšanas laikā (NIBUT).

Relazioni tra parametri biometrici in Marthasterias glacialis (L.) (Asteroidea)

Biometric parameters of the Asteroid echinoderm Marthasterias glacialis (L.) were measured at Ustica Island MPA (SW Tyrrhenian Sea). Wet weight was correlated with tip-to-tip (arm-span) diameter, central disk, arm length, arm width and arm height. Results show high positive correlation between weight and arm height, suggesting a new useful method to estimate starfish size also for in situ measurements.
