They try to establish links which go beyond the product itself and pay a special attention to the story behind the product. They want to know about the production site, the origin of ingredients, the persons involved in the production process. This is why the current consumers are looking for unique, sensorial experiences which, according to them, can be found only in original, simple, traditional products. The simplicity and authentic…
Globalization in Pediatric Surgical Training: The Benefit of an International Fellowship in a Low-to-Middle-Income Country Academic Hospital.

Abstract For many years, globalization was at the main source of economic growth for the world economy. In this paper we argue there are two dimensions of economic globalization, micro and macro, and the perspectives of globalization is more related to the microeconomic determinants. Looking to the definitions and measures of globalization we conclude that for most of the countries the macro dimensions are important and many of them irreversible and not questionable in these days – barriers of trade, political integration, etc., but the microeconomic behavior of individuals and companies…

From state-owned smokestacks to post-industrial dreams : The Finnish government in business, 1970–2010
2020
While state-owned enterprises (SOEs) used to be considered obsolete tools for governmental intervention in the economy, in recent years governmental intervention in the business sector has re-emerged as a topic of debate. However, scholarship on the changes in and the modernisation of the SOE model is limited. In this article, we examine how the Finnish state’s ownership policy adapted to the requirements of economic globalisation between the 1970s and the 2010s. We show that the attitude towards globalisation was pragmatic and aimed at safeguarding the competitiveness of domestic companies. The state-owned company system was gradually adapted to meet new needs, losing most of its original …
PANDEMIA NEL CAPITALISMO DEL XXI SECOLO
2020
In recent months much has been written and said about the pandemic, produced by coronavirus SARS-CoV2, which results in COVID-191 and which is causing deaths all over the world, affecting above all those social strata that, due to their own living conditions, do not know how to defend themselves. The book returns to the subject, examining the interactive play of the different factors that lie at the root of this dramatic social phenomenon and that constitutes yet another warning, from the most unheeded, about the real conditions of our planet and the possibility that life can continue to reproduce in it. Within the analysis of these different factors we wanted to pay particular attention to…
Beyond Representative Democracy: Real Democracy and Social Movements in the Spanish State
2017
