In the last years, the availability of new technologies of Earth Observation encouraged researches to use integrated approaches for environmental monitoring. Even for agro-hydrological applications, remotely sensed data are available on wide areas allowing the retrieval of cost-effective and representative estimation of high spatial and temporal variability of the soil-vegetation system variables. In the eighteenth century there is a large number of stories, both handwritten and in print, that describe extraordinary and unlucky events of different kinds: monstrosities, eclipses, or storms, floods, earthquakes, eruptions, etc. These stories, with respect to Sicily, take the form of occasional printed news, although sometimes they may be included in serials organized by different criteria (topographic/chronological/subject). ILEO BILIARE: DIAGNOSI E TRATTAMENTO. CASE REPORT

The authors present a case of gallstone intermittent ileus caused by the passage of a big gallstone (about 4 cm in diameter) in the intestinal lumen, through a cholecystoduodenal fistula. They emphasize the peculiarity of the case for the characteristics of symptoms and for casual diagnostic check-up with a ultrasonography. The disease is not frequently diagnosed; today it has a safe recognition by modern imaging. The symptoms can be intermittent and, even when there are the classic signs of intestinal occlusion, the site of the occlusion is various. With a timely endoscopical or surgical approach (open or laparoscopic) it is possible to reduce mortality of patients treated in emergency.
