Women as main earners in Europe

This paper conducts a cross-sectional empirical research aimed at documenting that couples with women as main earners represent a non-negligible share of the European populations today. We identify the socio-demographic characteristics of couples with women as main earners in comparison to couples with men as main earners and couples with equal-earners. We undertake a comparative and cross-temporal approach using micro-level survey data for 18 European countries from the European Social Survey and two years, 2004 and 2010, covering the period before and during the economic crisis.

Estimation of evapotranspiration (ET) in Sicilian vineyard is an emerging issue since these agricultural systems are more and more converted from rainfed to irrigated conditions, with significant impacts on the management of the scarce water resources of the region. The choice of the most appropriate methodology for assessing water use in these systems is still an issue of debating, due to the complexity of canopy and root systems and for their high spatial fragmentation. En la tradición de los estudios de vanguardia, la historiografía ha privilegiado los movimientos radicales (futurismo, dadaísmo) o los de larga herencia (superrealismo). Sin embargo, otros han sido recogidos a partir de autores y lejos de buscar una síntesis. El expresionismo constituye un ejemplo idóneo de cuanto decimos: disperso geográficamente, profético con toda su ambigüedad, ambiguo en su orientación política y no radicalmente contrario a la tradición, el expresionismo ha renacido de sus cenizas y permite replantear el estatuto de algunos movimientos de vanguardia de los años 1910.

Sulfur is an important volatile component of magmas that presents different oxidation states, depending on the redox conditions and on the phase of occurrence: in silicate melts it is typically dissolved as S⁶⁺ and/or S²⁻ , in the gas phase it occurs principally as SO₂ (S⁴⁺ ) and H₂S (S²⁻). Mount Etna, in which magmatic redox conditions are poorly constrained, is used as a case study to investigate sulfur behavior in hydrous basaltic magmas during magma differentiation and degassing.
