Therapy for post-transplant relapse of paediatric ALL is limited. Standardised curative approaches are not available. We hereby describe our local procedure in this life-threatening situation. A total of 101 ALL patients received their first allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) in our institution. After relapse, our primary therapeutic goal was to cure the patient with high-dose chemotherapy or specific immunotherapy (HDCHT/SIT) followed by a second SCT from a haploidentical donor (transplant approach). PURPOSE To examine the advantage of liver and brain MRI in clinically anomalous haematological patients with fever of unknown origin. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty liver MRI (T2-TSE, T2-HASTE, T1-FLASH +/- Gd dynamic) and 16 brain MRI (T2-TSE, FLAIR, T1-TSE +/- Gd) were performed searching for a focus of fever with a suspected organ system. Abstract Recent reports have demonstrated the feasibility of using the anti-CD52 antibody Campath-1H for in vivo T-cell depletion (TCD) in the context of a fludarabine/melphalan-based reduced-intensity conditioning regimen (Kottaridis et al. Blood 2000, 96:2419). Major disadvantage of this protocol is the severe immunosuppression which results in an increased rate of opportunistic infections and disease relapses. Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a major complication following stem-cell or solid-organ transplantation. Accurate diagnosis of cutaneous GvHD is challenging, given that drug eruptions and viral rashes may present with similar clinical/histological manifestations. Specific markers are not available.
