Evolution of fermenting microbiota in tarhana produced under controlled technological conditions

PubMedID: 21839387 The purpose of this study was to evaluate the evolution of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts during the fermentation of tarhana produced with some pasteurised ingredients and carried out at 30 and 40 °C. The chemical parameters were those typical for tarhana production. Coliform bacteria were not detected during fermentation, while LAB and yeasts were in the range 10 7-10 8 colony forming units (CFU) g -1. Plate counts showed an optimal development of both fermenting microbial groups and the differences in cell concentrations were not significant (P > 0.05). A new selective and sensitive liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry method was developed for simultaneous analysis of natural pyrethrins and synthetic pyrethroids residues in baby food. In this study, two sample preparation methods based on ultrasound-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (UA-DLLME) and salting-out assisted liquid–liquid extraction (SALLE) were optimized, and then, compared regarding the performance criteria. Abstract The influence that conditioning leached ground barley grain (known as “brewer's spent grain” (BSG)) has on the effectiveness of copper cation sorption was analysed. Saturation with counter ions of functional groups present on the grain surface was carried out in hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium and calcium chloride solutions. For comparison, BSG was also conditioned in demineralised water. The influence of the dominance of different processes on the microstructural development of a quarzite has been numerically modelled using the modelling system Elle. In the model dynamic recrystallization of a polycrystalline aggregate has been simulated by a combination of viscous deformation, lattice rotation, subgrain formation, rotation recrystallization, nucleation of new grains and recovery. The nucleation of extended dislocations from the grain boundaries in nanocrystalline aluminum is studied by molecular-dynamics simulation. The length of the stacking fault connecting the two Shockley partials that form the extended dislocation, i.e., the dislocation splitting distance, rsplit, depends not only on the stacking-fault energy but also on the resolved nucleation stress.
