The island of Lampedusa, in Sicily, has been in the news for years because of the landings of migrants (especially Africans). Our study is based on interviews with cultural mediators who work with NGOs and other hosting humanitarian organizations based on this extreme land of Europe. We intend to verify, through our interviews, what are the major cultural problems (Katan 2014 [1999]) in translation, the level of manipulation and the risks that translators must assume to accomplish their task.

In Terra straniera, 2014 bei Campanotto, Udine veröffentlicht, erscheint in der von Elvio Guagnini herausgegebenen Reihe ‚Italianistik’. Der Band erweist sich als ein Bericht über eine lange Reise, die die Italiener 1955 begannen und die bisher noch nicht zu Ende ist. Eine Reise in das fremde Land Deutschland, das schon damals zum begehrten Ziel vieler Menschen geworden und es bis heute geblieben ist. Die vorliegende Monographie ist die Bearbeitung der Dissertation Federica Marzis. Diese wurde im Rahmen des internationalen Doktorats in Scienze Umanistiche (Studiengang Italianistik) dank einer Kooperation zwischen der Universität Triest und der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf verfasst.…
