Emine Sevgi Özdamar: Ein von Schatten begrenzter Raum. Emine Sevgi Özdamar und die Erweiterung belichteter Räume
2022
Emine Sevgi Özdamar's new novel is a polyphonic hymn to a post-war Europe in which, for a short time, it seemed possible to break down borders using poetry alone. The novel is a long list of memories of friends, artists and acquaintances who accompanied Emine Sevgi Özdamar on her way. Above all it is the eloquent opening of a space between threat and security, a space delimited by shadows.
Rafik Schami: Sophia oder Der Anfang aller Geschichten
2016

Migranti, diritti umani e democrazia. Dalla conoscenza all'integrazione
2014
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN PRE-ADOLESCENT IMMIGRANTS OF SECOND GENERATION
The goal of this research has investigated if individual levels of EI in adolescent immigrants of second generation are related to different indicators of psychological adjustment such as individual well-being and peer relationships. To this aim, a group of 266 students of two schools in Palermo: 63 immigrants and 203 autochthonous aged from 10 to 18 (M=13.6, SD=25.3) EI was measured using a recently published Italian test IE-ACCME (D’Amico, 2013) addressed to preadolescents and adolescents and aimed at measuring the four branches of emotional intelligence described in Mayer & Salovey’s model (1997) using both self-report and performance measures. Psychological well-being was measured using…
Acculturation profiles, psychosocial adaptation and perceived discrimination among Tunisian adolescents
2014
The study refers to data coming from the Italian section of MIRIPS project. It was focused on the analysis of the adaptation of Tunisian adolescents living in Italy and it was guided by the integration hypothesis, stating that migrants feel better if they are engaged in both their own culture and that of the larger society than if they engage in one or the other culture only. Using a person-oriented approach, the study investigated the relationships between acculturation profiles - namely patterns of relations between factors associated to the acculturation process (e.g., acculturation strategies, ethnic and national identities, ethnic and national language use, social contacts with people …
Mass Media And Religious Practices In The Immigrant Situation: A Challenging Developmental Psychology Encountered By The Sri Lankan Tamil Adolescents…
2015
Mass Media and Religious Practices in the immigrant situation is a challenging Developmental Psychology, encountered by the Sri Lankan Tamil Adolescents living in Palermo, South Italy. Adolescents in the modern world face a lot of challenges in the process of their growth. One of such challenges is that of the social impact of Mass Media, which manipulates and determines the individual’s decisive moments of growth. They are left with no choice but confront Mass media and personal choice of religious attitudes, and religious practices, (Cohen 2010; Kukreja 2010). The attitudes and belief-systems are built and sustained by the social structure. (Cooper and Denner 1998). In this article we adm…
Immigrant and Autochthonous Young Adults in Italy: Intercultural Profiles, Psychosocial Adjustment and Mutual Attitudes
2012
In the last two decades, Italy had to deal with a rapid immigrant population increase. This change in “plural” society is characterized by deep-rooted disagreements that sometimes are even source of conflicts. For these reasons, there is the need to foster the scientific research in the field of intercultural relations in order to overcome conflicts among acculturating groups, especially during a period of economic recession characterized by a renewal in unemployment rates. From this perspective, both psychology of immigration and developmental psychology have begun to contribute to an understanding of those factors underlying the management of intercultural relations during life-course. Sp…
