Informal conversations in a community health program: process evaluation

Objetivo: Evaluar la calidad del proceso de las conversaciones informales (CI) con perspectiva de género, realizadas por dos agentes de salud, una mujer y un hombre de origen latinoamericano, en un programa dirigido a población inmigrante. Diseño: Se utiliza triangulación de técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas con perspectiva de género. Método: Las CI transcritas se leen y analizan por tres investigadores, cuantificando variables socio-demográficas: sexo, edad y país de origen y seleccionando segmentos textuales que se agrupan en categorías. In all European countries, migrant populations tend to have worse living conditions than native; this is particularly true for those born outside the EU. This paper proposes a new way to look at the relative living conditions of foreigners by looking at non-monetary (or ‘direct’) indicators of material deprivation in Italy-a country characterized by the presence of a wide range of nationalities. This article focuses on verbal interaction in whole class teaching in second language education for adults in Sweden. The article draws on theories treating language as multiple resources that are situated and embedded in material life, and including complex and diverse linguistic, semiotic, physical material and social resources. The material for the article was created in a project based in linguistic ethnography in the form of an action research project, including two municipal Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) schools.
