Il contributo presenta l'edizione e commento di un'iscrizione onoraria in lingua greca, rinvenuta a Hierapolis di Frigia (Turchia) presso il santuario di Apollo, dedicata dall'associazione dei Greci d'Asia al giovane defunto M. Valerius Asiaticus Catullus Messalinus, figlio del proconsole d’Asia M. Valerius Asiaticus. Il nuovo documento permette di riprendere e approfondire lo studio delle altre fonti epigrafiche e letterarie relative a questo importante senatore di epoca domizianeo-traianea. L'iscrizione attesta inoltre un sommo sacerdote d'Asia finora ignoto, Claudius Zenodotos di Hierapolis.

Lo studio prende in considerazione l’alto numero di occorrenze del termine ὁδός e di alcuni suoi composti (tra cui ad esempio δίοδος e περίοδος) presenti nel Corpus ippocratico, e in particolare in un gruppo di trattati (Generazione/Natura del bambino; libro IV delle Malattie; libro I delle Malattie delle donne; Ghiandole) che presentano comuni caratteristiche dal punto di vista teorico, lessicale e delle forme dell’espressione del pensiero medico scientifico. L’uso di detta terminologia per definire le “vie del corpo umano” e i fluidi che vi scorrono (in primo luogo sangue e sperma) sembra rimandare ad una concezione dell’anatomia e della fisiologia umana comune ai trattati considerati.

This study aims to examine a well-known inscription (IG XII.5, 225) dated to the mid-fifth century BC and found in Paroikia, near the acropolis of the ancient polis of Paros. It shows a typical formula of access limitation to local cults: according to most scholars, the cult in question is to be identified with the worship of Kore Astos (the Citizen), who is mentioned in the second line. The Dorians are excluded from this cult, as is shown by the expression (xenoi Dorie) appearing at the beginning of the text in a very relevant position. The analysis focuses on the figure of Hieron, a Syracusan tyrant who met with mixed fortune in scholarly studies. Often compared with his brother Gelon, the second of the Deinomenides was seen as a rapacious and violent tyrant. We here reconsider the testimonies on Hieron in order to find out to what extent that judgement actually corresponds to the image which the tradition of Antiquity gave of the tyrant. Si tratta della prima analisi sistematica di Iliade e Odissea scritta in una lingua diversa dal tedesco e del primo tentativo di dare un quadro generale delle analisi precedenti. Si cerca di distinguere i vari epe confluiti nei due poemi e come i Bearbeiter finali li hanno messi insieme. Le teorie panoraliste e unitarie vengono rifiutate, mentre vengono accettati i presupposti fondamentali dell’analisi, quale si è praticata per lo più da studiosi germanofoni nel sec. XIX e nella prima metà del XX.

This article aims at exploring the Homeric gods’ sensitivity to a particular kind of indig- nation that is expressed in the Homeric po- ems by the term nemesis and by the verbal forms arising from it. My purpose is to an- alyse the passages that allow us to establish the causes of divine nemesis towards the mortals and the gods themselves, as well as their effects. This survey also represents an opportunity for investigating the relation between the attribution of emotions to the Greek gods and the anthropomorphic repre- sentation of the divine.

The article traces the story of the so-called Lex Zieliński, according to which Homer is incapable of dealing with contemporary events at the same time and must therefore narrate them one by one. It examines the different interpretations of the law and the objections raised by various scholars in the last century, highlighting, however, that in some cases the theories of the Polish scholar are the only convincing way to explain some passages (few, but still present) of the Iliad and the Odyssey, which if understood according to modern narrative logic would be incomprehensible.
