A simple field method to measure the hydrodynamic properties of soil surface crust
2013
The hydraulic resistance of the surface crust was determined by a combination of two infiltrometric techniques: first, a surface measurement of steady-state infiltration rate is conducted by a mini-disk tension infiltrometer (MDI); then, the surface crust is removed, its thickness is measured, and a ponded infiltration test is performed at the same site. The Beerkan Estimation of Soil Transfer parameters (BEST) method is applied to estimate the hydraulic properties of the underlying soil provided the particlesize distribution and the bulk density are known. Under the assumption of a unit gradient of hydraulic head below the soil crust, the pressure head at the interface crust-soil is derive…
A soil biodiversity survey coupled with the national soil quality monitoring network?
2021
International audience; Despite its importance for human activities, soil biodiversity remains largely unknown and threatened. Aware of the need for large-scale monitoring, we studied the feasibility to add a soil biodiversity survey (RMBS-Biodiversity) to the already existing French soil quality monitoring network (RMQS). We worked with soil biodiversity experts to couple RMBS-Biodiversity with RMQS i.e. to choose soil taxons and functions, the methodologies and the sampling design. According to the experts, the sampling design of RMQS fits with a soil biodiversitysurvey. We propose sampling protocols for i) bacteria and fungi, ii) protists, iii) nematodes, iv) mesofauna (particularly spri…
Assessing the quality of dissolved organic matter in forest soils using ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometry
2007
Abbreviations: DOC, dissolved organic carbon; SUVA, specifi c ultraviolet absorbance; UV, ultraviolet. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used to investigate the effects, 30 yr after planting, of tree species substitution on the aromatic C content and related properties of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Precautions were taken to correct measurements for the absorbance of NO 3 and dissolved Fe. In litter leachates, a signifi cant reduction in the aromatic content of DOC was found in the Douglas-fi r [Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco] plantation but not in the beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) plantation. The disturbance of short-term C dynamics thus revealed agreed well with fi eld observations…
La terre : un bien hors du commun. De l'utopie à la révolution foncière
2018

Evaluation of the Behavior of Phenolic Compounds and Steviol Glycosides of Sonicated Strawberry Juice Sweetened with Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Berton…
2019
In this study, the influence of stevia addition and sonication processing parameters on the phenolic content and profile as well as the steviol glycosides of strawberry juice-based samples was investigated. For this purpose, three matrices&mdash
W drodze do źródeł bytu. Symbolika czarnomorskiej przestrzeni w "Sonetach Krymskich" Adama Mickiewicza
2018
In 1825, Adam Mickiewicz - who was temporarily staying in Odessa by the tsar's sentence of exile - went on a trip to the Crimea. The Crimean Sonnets, recognized by the researchers of Romanticism as revolutionary and innovative, are a direct account of this trip. One of the essential poetic intentions of this cycle is to visualize the vastness of space experienced by the lyrical "I". Space - It has to be emphasized here - of the Black Sea region. This essay is an attempt to read its ambiguous symbolism. In the light of the research in the field of humanistic geography on the phenomenon of "space" and "place", It is interpreted here as the implication of the freedom of the world, which, along…
Biological adaptation in light of the Lewontin–Williams (a)symmetry
2022
Neo-Darwinism characterises biological adaptation as a one-sided process, in which organisms adapt to their environment but not vice versa. This asymmetric relationship – here called Williams’ asymmetry – is called into question by Niche Construction Theory, which emphasises that organisms and their environments often mutually affect each other. Here we clarify that Williams’ asymmetry is specifically concerned with (quasi-) directed modifications towards phenotypes that increase individual fitness. This directedness – which drives the adaptive fit between organism and environment – entails far more than the mere presence of cause-effect relationships. We argue that difficulties with invoki…
I principi generali del diritto agrario contemporaneo e le fonti
2023
This chapter identifies and describes the principles that govern contemporary agricultural law. The different sources of production of contemporary agricultural law and the relationships between them are also identified.
