Group theory aspects of chaotic strings
2014
Chaotic strings are a special type of non-hyperbolic coupled map lattices, exhibiting a rich structure of complex dynamical phenomena with a surprising correspondence to physical contents. Chaotic strings are generated by the Chebyshev maps T2() and T3(). In this paper we connect the Chebyshev maps via the Galois theory to the cyclic groups Z2 and Z3 and give some ideas how this fundamental connection might lead to the emergence of the familiar Lie group structure of particle physics and, finally, even to the emergence of space-time. The Z3-graded cubic and ternary algebras presented here have been introduced by R. Kerner in 1991 and then developed and elaborated in collaboration with many …
ω-hypoelliptic differential operators of constant strength
2004
Abstract We study ω-hypoelliptic differential operators of constant strength. We show that any operator with constant strength and coefficients in E ω (Ω) which is homogeneous ω-hypoelliptic is also σ-hypoelliptic for any weight function σ=O(ω). We also present a sufficient condition in order to ensure that a differential operator admits a parametrix and, as a consequence, we obtain some conditions on the weights (ω,σ) to conclude that, for any operator P(x,D) with constant strength, the σ-hypoellipticity of the frozen operator P(x0,D) implies the ω-hypoellipticity of P(x,D). This requires the use of pseudodifferential operators.
Textile and tile pattern design automatic cataloguing using detection of the plane symmetry group
2004
We present an integrated management system of pattern design for the textile and tile industries providing automatic cataloguing capabilities based on the application of the scientific theory of symmetry groups. To do this, a process of analysis is performed which starts from an initial image of the decorative element, which in turn is subjected to a number of segmentation and labelling operators that allow to detect the objects present in the image. These objects are vectorized, compared, and their isometries obtained; subsequently they are grouped and the isometries of the groups of objects detected. Finally, a composition analysis is carried out that, on the basis of the repetitions and …
