This study assessed the relationship between students’ growth goals and perceived opportunities to achieve these goals in Latvia and the perceived support from the university and the mesosystem. Socialization models emphasize that the setting of personal goals occurs in continuous interaction with the sociocultural context, which includes perceived opportunities to achieve these goals and the interpersonal environment. Abstract Numerical simulation of the CdTe crystal growth process by the Bridgman method is made by using the commercial computational code FLUENT for the mathematical solution of the governing equations. To reduce computational effort, we have made use of a two level strategy. In the first level we have considered the whole system formed by the ampoule with the liquid–solid charge, the furnace, and the air between them. The heat transfer is assumed to occur by conduction, convection and radiation between the furnace and the ampoule, and only by conduction through the ampoule wall and the solid and liquid CdTe. Abstract The influence of growth parameters and melt convection on the solid–liquid interface of the intermetallic compound Ni3Si grown by the RF-floating zone technique was investigated experimentally as well as numerically. Numerical simulations showed that the heat transfer is strongly influenced by the electromagnetically driven and Marangoni convections whereas both the buoyancy and feed rotation have a negligible effect. The set of characteristic parameters which describe modern large industrial CZ silicon single crystal growth systems is introduced. The main melt flow driving mechanisms are considered, and the characteristic density values of various in the melt acting forces are estimated. The analysis is illustrated with examples of numerical simulation and comparisons with experiments.
Breakdown of Burton-Prime-Slichter approach and lateral solute segregation in radially converging flows

A theoretical study is presented of the effect of a radially converging melt flow, which is directed away from the solidification front, on the radial solute segregation in simple solidification models. We show that the classical Burton-Prim-Slichter (BPS) solution describing the effect of a diverging flow on the solute incorporation into the solidifying material breaks down for the flows converging along the solidification front. The breakdown is caused by a divergence of the integral defining the effective boundary layer thickness which is the basic concept of the BPS theory. The death of a spouse is an extremely stressful life event that consequently causes a large drop in life satisfaction. Reactivity to the loss, however, varies markedly, a phenomenon that is currently not well understood. Because lack of controllability essentially contributes to the stressful nature of this incident, the authors analyzed whether individual differences in belief in external control influence the coping process. Objectives: To investigate the prevalence and risk factors for poor mental health of Chinese university students during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Method: Chinese nation-wide on-line cross-sectional survey on university students, collected between February 12th and 17th, 2020. Primary outcome was prevalence of clinically-relevant posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms.
