Polar Localization of a Tripartite Complex of the Two-Component System DcuS/DcuR and the Transporter DctA in Escherichia coli Depends on the Sensor K…
2014
The C4-dicarboxylate responsive sensor kinase DcuS of the DcuS/DcuR two-component system of E. coli is membrane-bound and reveals a polar localization. DcuS uses the C4-dicarboxylate transporter DctA as a co-regulator forming DctA/DcuS sensor units. Here it is shown by fluorescence microscopy with fusion proteins that DcuS has a dynamic and preferential polar localization, even at very low expression levels. Single assemblies of DcuS had high mobility in fast time lapse acquisitions, and fast recovery in FRAP experiments, excluding polar accumulation due to aggregation. DctA and DcuR fused to derivatives of the YFP protein are dispersed in the membrane or in the cytosol, respectively, when …
Ambiguous Role of Interleukin-12 in Yersinia enterocolitica Infection in Susceptible and Resistant Mouse Strains
1998
ABSTRACT Endogenous interleukin-12 (IL-12) mediates protection against Yersinia enterocolitica in C57BL/6 mice by triggering gamma interferon (IFN-γ) production in NK and CD4 + T cells. Administration of exogenous IL-12 confers protection against yersiniae in Yersinia -susceptible BALB/c mice but exacerbates yersiniosis in resistant C57BL/6 mice. Therefore, we wanted to dissect the different mechanisms exerted by IL-12 during Yersinia infections by using different models of Yersinia -resistant and -susceptible mice, including resistant C57BL/6 mice, susceptible BALB/c mice, intermediate-susceptible wild-type 129/Sv mice, 129/Sv IFN-γ-receptor-deficient (IFN-γR −/− ) mice and C57BL/6 tumor n…
ZnO – Yb2O3 composite optical ceramics: Synthesis, structure and spectral-luminescent properties
2022
International audience; Zinc oxide optical ceramics containing 0 – 2 wt% ytterbium are prepared byuniaxial hot pressing of commercial oxides at 1150 and 1180 °C. The ceramics have themain crystalline phase of hexagonal wurtzite-type ZnO. Ytterbium ions do not enter theZnO crystals but form a cubic sesquioxide phase of Yb2O3 located at the ZnO grainboundaries. Yb acts as an inhibitor for the ZnO grain growth. The ceramics exhibittransmittance up to 60% in the visible. Their transmission in the infrared is determinedby the free charge carrier absorption. The Yb3+ ions are found in C2 and C3i sites in Yb2O3crystals. Under X-ray excitation, the ceramics exhibit intense luminescence bands in the…
Targeting NUPR1 with the Small Compound ZZW-115 Is an Efficient Strategy to Treat Hepatocellular Carcinoma
2020
International audience; HCC is a highly lethal malignancy with Sorafenib as the only molecularly targeted drug. The multifunctional stress-associated protein, NUPR1, plays an essential role in controlling cell growth, migration, invasion and Sorafenib resistance in HCC. We report here that NUPR1 expression is absent in healthy liver and it is progressively upregulated in HCC premalignant lesions such as hepatitis and cirrhosis with a maximum expression in HCC samples, highlighting that NUPR1 is a potential drug target for HCC. We therefore assessed in this work, ZZW-115, a strong inhibitor of NUPR1, as a promising candidate for the treatment of HCC. We validated its extraordinary antitumor …

LFZ growth of (Bi, Pb)–Sr–Ca–Cu–O superconducting fibers
1991
Powder x-ray diffraction, d.c. and a.c. susceptibilities, and SEM have been used to study (Bi1−xPbx)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10−δ fibers grown by the Laser Floating Zone method. The well-oriented, long-grained superconductor fiber properties are shown to be highly dependent on the partial pressure of oxygen in the growth atmosphere, as well as on fiber pulling rate. Slowly grown fibers contain initially the 2212 (80 K) phase; the 2223 (110 K) phase also appears upon annealing in air. Faster growth rates result in fibers that contain a mixture of the 2212 and 2201 phases and, in this case, long annealing procedures are necessary to observe the 2223 phase.
Spatial analysis of within-vineyard grape vine sensitivity to solar irradiance patterns. A case study using pinot noir in a complex terrain
2009
14225; International audience; We analyze how the patterns of the solar irradiance affect the growth of Pinot noir grapevines at stand-scale over a hilly terrain bounded by a coniferous forest. The study area is located on the “Vineyard Cost” that produce some of the best wines of the Burgundy region. The work is based on i) a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and ii) the joint use of both irradiance and phenological models. Results show that the patterns of irradiance deficit are the primary driving force of the growth. Linear trends display good correlation between the total deficit of irradiance, and the developped growth index (R2 up to 0.96). Trends appear strongly modulated by posit…
Study of TiO2 nanostructures grown in a MOCVD reactor in presence of metallic catalysts. Valorization of these TiO2 nanostructures
2017
Within the Nanoform Theme, Ax Nanosciences, ICB, we realize the growth of 1D, 2D and 3D hybrid nanostructures based on TiO2 by MOCVD. Our work deals with the theoretical aspect of the formation of these nanostructures (growth and kinetic models, structure and texture) and the study of photoelectric, optical and physicochemical properties as well as the development of applications of these structures in physics (random laser), photocatalysis, energy (solar cells). Under certain perfectly controlled conditions, we obtain original TiO2 structures not yet described in the literature: membranes, rods , canals, crucibles, COHN (COaxiales Heterostructures Nanowires). Our previous work made it poss…
Un réexamen du modèle de gains de Mincer
1986
A re-appraisal of mincer's earnings model Starting from rough measures of formal schooling and on the job training, the earning model proposed by J. Mincer (1974) suceed to explain a substantial proportion of the variance of individual earning. The explanatory power of the model can be significantly boosted by increasing the quality of the variables. In spite of the robustness of the model, the interpretation of the results is to be taken cautiously. These results can be derived from alternative theoretical hypothesis and namely to the one known as the filter hypothesis. It is shown that a specification of the earnings function consistent with the filter hypothesis is proced to be empirical…
Measuring ‘indirect’ investments in ICT in OECD countries
2019
International audience; ICT components, such as microprocessors, may be embodied in other capital goods not recorded as ICT in National Accounts. We name ‘indirect ICT investment’ the value of embodied ICT components in non-ICT investment. The paper provides estimates of ‘indirect ICT investment’ based on detailed and unpublished Supply-Use tables (SUT) in 12 OECD countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Our main finding is that ICT investment appears significantly higher when considering its indirect component, the average increase being about 35%. The inclusion of i…
