Predictions for 5.023 TeV Pb + Pb collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider
2016
We compute predictions for various low-transverse-momentum bulk observables in √sNN = 5.023 TeV Pb+Pb collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) from the event-by-event next-to-leading-order perturbative-QCD + saturation + viscous hydrodynamics (“EKRT”) model. In particular, we consider the centrality dependence of charged hadron multiplicity, flow coefficients of the azimuth-angle asymmetries, and correlations of event-plane angles. The centrality dependencies of the studied observables are predicted to be very similar to those at 2.76 TeV, and the magnitudes of the flow coefficients and event-plane angle correlations are predicted to be close to those at 2.76 TeV. The flow coeffic…
s-wave charmed baryon resonances from a coupled-channel approach with heavy quark symmetry
2009
We study charmed baryon resonances which are generated dynamically within a unitary meson-baryon coupled channel model that treats the heavy pseudoscalar and vector mesons on equal footing as required by heavy-quark symmetry. It is an extension of recent SU(4) models with t-channel vector meson exchanges to a SU(8) spin-flavor scheme, but differs considerably from the SU(4) approach in how the strong breaking of the flavor symmetry is implemented. Some of our dynamically generated states can be readily assigned to recently observed baryon resonances, while others do not have a straightforward identification and require the compilation of more data as well as an extension of the model to d-w…
Axion Searches with Microwave Filters: the RADES project
2018
We propose, design and construct a variant of the conventional axion haloscope concept that could be competitive in the search for dark matter axions of masses in the decade 10–100 μeV. Theses masses are located somewhat above the mass range in which existing experiments have reached sensitivity to benchmark QCD axion models. Our haloscope consists of an array of small microwave cavities connected by rectangular irises, in an arrangement commonly used in radio-frequency filters. The size of the unit cavity determines the main resonant frequency, while the possibility to connect a large number of cavities allows to reach large detection volumes. We develop the theoretical framework of the de…
Design of the online PC farm for the high level trigger of the NA62 experiment at CERN
2012
We present a highly efficient data processing framework optimized for software based triggers of fixed-target HEP experiments with continuous data collection during burst time alternating with longer out-of-burst periods.
Observation of meson central production in baryon exchange processes
1991
The central production of ρ0,f2 and ρ30 mesons is observed for the first time in processes which are originated by π+p reactions proceeding via baryon exchange mechanism. The data come from the CERN WA56 experiment designed to separate the baryon exchange reactions in π+p-collisions at 20 GeV/c. We report on the measured integral and differential cross sections and also give the density matrix elements of the meson resonances observed.
