Masteroppgave i helsefag ME 518 Universitetet i Agder 2013 The background for the study is an expected increased shortage of nurses in Norway and internationally. The purpose of this study was to get new knowledge from senior nurses' own experiences. The goal was to visualize conditions that held senior nurses longer in the job. I wanted to look at how they described their professional life, their experiences as being a senior at work and thinking about how it would be to retire. This is a time- relevant issue and it has been little research on this topic in Norway. This was a qualitative study and nine senior nurses who work shifts in home care were interviewed. They were on average 61,9 y…

Investigating a Virtual Reality Solution for Rehabilitation in a Biomechatronics Lab and Home Environment

2020

Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM500) Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a promising technical tool in physical rehabilitation. VR rehabilitation (VRR) programs, like any rehabilitation, attempt to promote neuroplasticity to improve physical rehabilitation. Research indicates that VRR is beneficial; it facilitates task-specific training, multi-sensory feedback, and diversifying rehabilitation tasks, which can motivate patients. This master thesis investigates a VR solution for a biomechatronics lab and a home-based system. This project was partially a collaboration between masterstudents at Mechatronics and Multimedia and Educational Technology. The Mechatronics …

Painful Practice : A study of the prevention and treatment of strain injuries in the world of a violinist

2017

Master's Thesis Music Performance, Western Classical Music MUK501 - University of Agder 2017 Strain injuries are a common problem among violinists. The aim of this study was to collect information about different treatment methods, and whether or not they worked. Through two surveys and a personal, empirical approach, it became clear that there was no true answer to this, as most methods received both positive and negative responses. However, the results did indicate a slight distinction between the methods, as some turned out to be better at preventing and some better at treating strain injuries. The methods brought into this thesis are chiropractic, physiotherapy, osteopathy, doctor/medic…

Childhood adherence to a potentially healthy and sustainable Nordic diet and later overweight: The Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (M…

2020

Abstract The New Nordic Diet (NND) is a potentially healthy and sustainable dietary pattern represented by locally available and traditionally consumed foods in the Northern countries. The diet has been commonly examined in adult populations, but less is known regarding its potential associations with overweight/obesity in children. We have previously developed child diet scores measuring compliance to the NND at child age 6 and 18 months and 3 and 7 years. In this study, we aimed to describe child and maternal characteristics and assess potential associations between the age‐specific diet scores and child overweight at 8 years. This study is based on the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child …
