Studies of ethylene/1-hexene copolymerization over zirconocene catalyst supported on MAO-modified MgCl2(THF)2. The effect of copolymerization conditi…

2003

Composition of catalytic system and copolymerization reaction conditions influence on heterogeneity of ethylene/1-hexene copolymers obtained over MgCI2(THF)2/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2/MAO catalyst was studied. One of the DSC techniques, i.e. successive self-nucleation/annealing (SSA) method allowing separation of the polymer into fractions with differing chemical composition in result of alternating crystallization and melting cycles was applied. It was found that the intermolecular heterogeneity exists inside all studied samples irrespective of the reaction conditions (temperature and time) and the catalyst composition (Al/Zr molar ratio). It was also confirmed that catalyst composition has a considera…

Land surface temperature representativeness in a heterogeneous area through a distributed energy-water balance model and remote sensing data

2010

Land surface temperature is the link between soil-vegetation-atmosphere fluxes and soil water content through the energy water balance. This paper analyses the representativeness of land surface temperature (LST) for a distributed hydrological water balance model (FEST-EWB) using LST from AHS (airborne hyperspectral scanner), with a spatial resolution between 2–4 m, LST from MODIS, with a spatial resolution of 1000 m, and thermal infrared radiometric ground measurements that are compared with the representative equilibrium temperature that closes the energy balance equation in the distributed hydrological model.

Diurnal and nocturnal images are analyzed due to the non s…

Neoantigens Generated by Individual Mutations and Their Role in Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy

2017

Recent preclinical and clinical studies have proved the long-standing hypothesis that tumors elicit adaptive immune responses and that the antigens driving effective T-cell response are neoantigens, i.e., peptides that are generated from somatically mutated genes. Hence, the characterization of neoantigens and the identification of the immunogenic ones are of utmost importance for improving cancer immunotherapy and broadening its efficacy to a larger fraction of patients. In this review, we first introduce the methods used for the quantification of neoantigens using next-generation sequencing data and then summarize results obtained using these tools to characterize the neoantigen landscape…

Natural enemies emerging in cereal fields in spring may contribute to biological control

2022

1.Biological pest control is known to depend on landscape heterogeneity. However, such relationship shows irregular pattern and seems influenced by local farming practices and natural enemies that overwinter within crop fields. The objective of this study was to assess the contribution of emerging natural enemies in spring to biological control, and their response to the interaction between landscape heterogeneity and farming intensity. 2.We monitored the overwintering insect community using emergence traps and measured the local potential pest predation using prey cards in 30 cereal fields, in spring in France. Study fields were selected along a landscape heterogeneity gradient and farming…

Effects of forest-fuel harvesting on the diversity of dead wood and epixylic macrolichens in clear-cuts

2016

Texture analysis on preoperative contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging identifies microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma

2019

Abstract Background Radiomic texture analysis quantifies tumor heterogeneity. The aim of this study is to determine if radiomics can predict biologic aggressiveness in HCC and identify tumors with MVI. Methods Single-center, retrospective review of HCC patients undergoing resection/ablation with curative intent from 2009 to 2017. DICOM images from preoperative MRIs were analyzed with texture analysis software. Texture analysis parameters extracted on T1, T2, hepatic arterial phase (HAP) and portal venous phase (PVP) images. Multivariate logistic regression analysis evaluated factors associated with MVI. Results MVI was present in 52.2% (n = 133) of HCCs. On multivariate analysis only T1 mea…

Systematic search for neutropenia should be part of the first screening in patients with poikiloderma.

2011

Poikiloderma occurs in a number of hereditary syndromes, the best known of which is Rothmund-Thomson syndrome (RTS). Differential diagnoses include Dyskeratosis Congenita (DC) with high genetic heterogeneity and Clericuzio-type Poikiloderma with Neutropenia (CPN) due to mutations in the C16orf57 gene. Mutations in the RECQL4 gene are only observed in two thirds of RTS patients. In this study, 10 patients referred for syndromic poikiloderma and negative for RECQL4 sequencing analysis were investigated for C16orf57 mutations. Two C16orf57 heterozygous nonsense mutations (p.W81X and p.Y89X) were identified in a 5-year-old female child presenting with generalized poikiloderma, dental dysplasia,…

Hyaluronan for knee osteoarthritis: an updated meta-analysis of trials with low risk of bias

2015

International audience; Background The effectiveness of intra-articular hyaluronic acid (IAHA) injection for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is debated. Objectives To evaluate the effect of IAHA for patients with KOA by analysing data from trials of IAHA versus placebo with low risk of bias, to provide the highest level of evidence. Methods A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) with a low risk of bias (adequate randomisation and concealment and double-blind design) that investigated IAHA versus placebo (saline solution) injection were eligible. The primary efficacy measure was pain intensity and secondary outcome function at 3 months. The treatment…

Syndrome of autosomal recessive polycystic kidneys with skeletal and facial anomalies is not linked to the ARPKD gene locus on chromosome 6p

2000

We report on two sibs, both males, one born at 37 the other at 24 weeks of gestation, both with a syndrome similar to that seen in three sets of sibs by Gillessen-Kaesbach et al. [1993: Am J Med Genet 45:511–518]. Both propositi had polycystic kidneys and hepatic fibrosis indistinguishable from that seen in autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), and skeletal and facial anomalies. Skeletal abnormalities included “butterfly” vertebrae, square shape of pelvis, and brachymelia. The facial anomalies included hypertelorism, epicanthic folds, and anteverted nares. Additional external findings were apparently low-set ears and a short neck. Histopathological examination of the kidney…

Epidemiology of Usher Syndrome in Valencia and Spain

2004

Objective: To obtain epidemiological data on the prevalence of the different types of Usher syndrome (US) in Spain, since these data were missing; to estimate the proportion of sporadic cases among simplex families, and calculate the prevalence of the Usher syndrome in a homogeneous population from Eastern Spain (3,875,234 inhabitants) that is representative of the Spanish population. Methods: Otological, ophthalmological and genetic studies were performed in 89 US patients from 46 families and subjected to statistical and segregation analysis. Results: 41.6% of them suffered US type I, 46.1% type II, and in 12.3% the classification r…
