From transition magnetic moments to majorana neutrino masses

2005

It is well known that a majorana mass induces a (small) transition magnetic moment. The converse is also true; in this paper we estimate the loop contribution of transition magnetic moments $[\mu]_{\alpha \beta}$ to the neutrino mass matrix $[m]_{\alpha \beta}$. We show that for hierarchical neutrino masses, the contribution of $[\mu]_{e \tau}$ to $[m]_{e \tau}$ can exceed the experimental value of $[m]_{e \tau}$.

Heavy Higgs of the Twin Higgs models

2018

Twin Higgs models are the prime illustration of neutral naturalness, where the new particles of the twin sector, gauge singlets of the Standard Model (SM), ameliorate the little hierarchy problem. In this work, we analyse phenomenological implications of the heavy Higgs of the Mirror Twin Higgs and Fraternal Twin Higgs models, when electroweak symmetry breaking is linearly realized. The most general structure of twin Higgs symmetry breaking, including explicit soft and hard breaking terms in the scalar potential, is employed. The direct and indirect searches at the LHC are used to probe the parameter space of Twin Higgs models through mixing of the heavy Higgs with the SM Higgs and decays o…

What can we learn from neutrinoless double beta decay experiments?

2004

We assess how well next generation neutrinoless double beta decay and normal neutrino beta decay experiments can answer four fundamental questions. 1) If neutrinoless double beta decay searches do not detect a signal, and if the spectrum is known to be inverted hierarchy, can we conclude that neutrinos are Dirac particles? 2) If neutrinoless double beta decay searches are negative and a next generation ordinary beta decay experiment detects the neutrino mass scale, can we conclude that neutrinos are Dirac particles? 3) If neutrinoless double beta decay is observed with a large neutrino mass element, what is the total mass in neutrinos? 4) If neutrinoless double beta decay is observed but ne…

The inheritance workshop

2002

International audience; The Inheritance Workshop at ECOOP 2002, which took place on Tuesday, 11 June, was the first ECOOP workshop focusing on inheritance after the successful workshops in 1991 and 1992. The workshop was intended as a forum for designers and implementers of object-oriented languages, and for software developers with an interest in inheritance. It was organized by Andrew P. Black, Erik Ernst, Peter Grogono, and Markku Sakkinen.

Specialized Applications Used in the Mobile Application Security Implementation Process

2020

In the paper, authors aim to determine the extent to which open source applications can replace specialized security applications for mobile applications. In this respect, open source components are selected at which level the implemented security features are identified, based on which a completeness-determining indicator is calculated. The value of this indicator is then compared to the value obtained for the .NET CF3 framework, with a hierarchy of the components being treated according to this indicator. Based on the same selected components or components derived from them, to which other components have been added, the issue of ensuring their quality is dealt with by calculating the com…

An Analytic Hierachy Process for Ranking Operating Costs of Low Cost and Full Service Airlines

2009

This paper develops an application of the analytic hierarchy process to rank the operating cost components of full service and low cost airlines. It takes into account the financial balance sheets and answers to a questionnaire submitted to the managers of selected airlines. The results suggest that the analytic hierarchy process can be appropriately used to obtain the ranking of the costs taking into account different views: financial, management and operative. Rental, office equipment and other supplies costs show the highest importance in the cost ranking, both for full services and low cost airlines. The robustness of the results is tested by Monte Carlo analysis.

Project Selection by Constrained Fuzzy AHP

2004

The selection of a project among a set of possible alternatives is a difficult task decision makers have to face. Difficulties in selecting a project arise because of the different goals involved and because of the large number of attributes to consider. Our approach is based upon a fuzzy extension of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This paper focuses on the constraints that have to be considered within fuzzy AHP in order to take in account all the available information. This study demonstrates that by considering all the information deriving from the constraints better results in terms of certainty and reliability can be achieved.

SOCIO-CULTURAL FACTORS AND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS

2015

Socio-cultural factors – shared values, norms and attitudes are significant, but less acknowledged sources of international competitiveness. Previous studies have found socio-cultural factors positively affecting various aspects of international competitiveness – entrepreneurship, innovation, productivity and international cooperation. These factors are more sustainable and less affected by external environment changes in comparison with the traditional factors. Socio-cultural factors provide an opportunity to develop competitiveness strategies based on unique advantages. This research aims to explore the impact of socio-cultural factors on international competiveness in small, open economi…
