Leadership Styles and the Moral Choice of Internal Auditors
2010
Internal auditors’ performance largely depends on their moral decisions when faced with ethical dilemmas. This study explores the impacts of different leadership styles on internal auditors’ moral choice using ERG theory and Path-goal theory. The findings of the survey demonstrated support for both theories. Regression analysis revealed that a sample of West Australian internal auditors were motivated by growth needs and the motivation was enhanced if the leader took a Standard-achievement-oriented approach. Gender appeared as an important predictor and female respondents in the survey were younger and less experienced than their male counterparts and appeared less motivated towards moral c…
Nurturing the Interpreneur
2007
Few topics in the family business literature have been studied more than management and ownership succession. In today’s competitive global economy, businesses find that innovation, growth and other entrepreneurial behaviors are necessary to survive and prosper. Ernesto Poza (1988) proposed a model for developing entrepreneurial orientations and actions in family business successors, labeling those successors interpreneurs. This study reports the results of interviews with five second-generation company owners and determines how well their experiences match the precepts of Poza’s model. Analyses find that the CEOs behaved entrepreneurially post-transition, but with few examples of conscious…

Three types of analysis have been carried out: a univariate analysis for both groups with the categorical and continuous variables selected; a bivariate analysis, using chi-square tests and the exact Fischer test; and finally, a multivariable technique such as the decision trees was incorporated. The available resu…
Epizodiskas sistēmiskas hipoksijas ietekme uz ķīmijrefleksa jutību
2015
Īslaicīga normobāriska hipoksija treniņu laikā pozitīvi ietekmē organisma adaptācijas reakcijas. Tomēr precīzi mehānismi, kas to ietekmē, nav zināmi un tiek vēl pētīti. Šajā bakalaura darbā tiks apskatīti ķīmijreflksa jutību raksturojošo plaušu ventilācijas parametru, sirdsdarbības frekvences un sistoles tilpuma, kā arī gāzu maiņas ekvivalentu atkarība no akūtas normobāriskas hipoksijas dziļuma un ilguma fizioloģiskā miera stāvoklī. Pētījuma rezultāti rāda, ka ķīmijrefleksa jutībai ir tendence palielināties, palielinot normobāriskas hipoksijas dziļumu.
A Family Dimension in SME Owner-Managers Ownership Profiles A Psychological Ownership Perspective
2008
This paper introduces a contextual model of ownership that consists of social, action and object dimensions. We build on business ownership and family business literatures as well as that of the psychology of ownership to analyze small business owner-managers’ ownership profiles. In the empirical section we show that distinct ownership profiles can be identified and that those owner-managers who view their business as a family business have distinct profiles from those of non-family business owners. Our analysis shows that family business profiles include care-taking, stewardship and continuity as well as a perception of the company as a tool for achieving other valuable things in the world…

Guanxi, performance and innovation in entrepreneurial service projects.
2012
This paper analyzes the role played by two dimensions of entrepreneurs’ private social capital in the survival, growth and innovativeness of entrepreneurial service ventures: local size and preferential attachment degree. We build a bi-dimensional measure of social capital based on network models and a methodology to estimate this measure for any group of entrepreneurs. Based on a survey of service entrepreneurs who launched their business in the city of Shanghai, we show that roles played by each dimension are quite different. A large local size of the network increases the chances of survival of the new venture. However, the chance to become a dynamic venture is only related to entreprene…
