Before systematic excavation made between 1990-2002, the building Protohistoric of "La Mata" (Campanario, Badajoz) was a great mound of land known in the area with the expressive name place "Monton de Tierra Grande", to differentiate it from "Monton de Tierra Chico," a funerary monument and located almost 1 km Southeast of the first one. Both mounds were explored in early 1930 by Virgilio Viniegra Vera and John White Gallardo. The study of the “Lusitanian robbery” led to an important research since the late nineteenth century.Nevertheless, and despite a gradual shift in modern historiography towards a more nuanced approachto the origin of the phenomenon, the problem of land still remains a central concern of many historiansand archaeologists. From a close discussion of the main passages of Livy, Diodorus and Appian especiallyrelating to the relationship that some have sought to establish between lack and / or poverty ofthe land and development of robbery among the Lusitanians, it gives a review of the socio-economicinterpretation.

This tradition moved from the firsts scientific publications edited by the Mechitarist Congregation of San Lazzaro to Ca’ Foscari University’s first chair of Armenian Studies, led by father Levon Zekyan in 1976. During that year, Adriano Alpago Novello founded the Study and Documentation Centre of Armenian Culture that in 1992 moved from Milan to Venice. The present paper focuses on the legacy of Alpago Novello through the analysis of his working methods and results in the context of the history of Armenian art and architecture.
